Italy played a great game, even though I hate the guy. They needed balotelli up top

They really held the game pretty good. Spain's game vs. Nigeria was really interesting because they used their forwards as more of midfielders instead of chasing the ball around spain's defense as other teams do. And I saw the same with this game with italy. I fucking hope brazil can learn a thing or two from their two last games

this. World Cup will be different. Our best two strikers were both injured. One of them injured throughout the whole tournament and our best two midfield players were both injured against Brazil.

I'm confident with Italys play and they will go far in the WC.

And this was the closest ball possession game I seen with a team against spain in a long time.

The Italian players simply did not have the stamina to go 90min+. When you're doing such a good job of containing Spain's passing (for the first time, they barely controlled italy's back third and resorted to more counter-attacking style football), it drains you real quick. Pirlo was a far cry from his Euro self, very sluggish and uninspired. Lucky for them Buffon came in the clutch against a Spanish team that simply didn't let up.

Regardless, I totally disagree, Spanish football dominance has come to an end; it's the Germans who are going to take it, though I'm cheering for Portugal tbh.

Buffon came in clutch? Spain didn't have many shots at the goal and the shots that they had either went wide of goal or over the crossbar. You mean Spain is lucky Casillas came in clutch. Gianncheri was the closet to scoring but it had hit the post.

Anyways if you don't think Italy has a chance of winning the WC after playing that well against Spain without their best two strikers El Sharway and Balotelli, you don't know or watch soccer much.

You never know who is going to win a World Cup, but you know who are contenders for the World Cup and Italy is one of them.

Here are my top 4 teams for the World Cup : Italy, Brazil, Germany, Spain. But there's also upcoming teams that are really good such as Colombia who has one of the most underrated strikers Falcao.

Brazil is coming fucking strong. I have a good feeling they might just take the cup in 2014. I still have faith in Spain though for the world cup that is. Brazil just spanked 'em forreal doe.

Im on vacation, sorry I couldn't reply earlier. But to the two (baddy and Louie?) who replied to me, all I have to say is Brazil 3 Spain 0.

Spain's era has come to an end. Their players are older and the Barca/Spain tiki-taka system isn't what it used to be. It's the first time Spain ever loses by such a margin since like Frances 3-1 in 2006 WC. Yesterday, they were totally unrecognizable. Their possession was poor and they played a incredibly individualistic counter-attacking football, took shots outside the box, etc. A far cry of the 70% possession, passes in the last third, two touches pass team of before.

I like Italy Baddy, but they aren't possibly favourites. Italy has to 5 WC wins, but they've always liked to come into a tournament as underdogs. What's more remarkable to me is how much the Italian team has reformed since 2006. As youll all remember the two best defenses in the world were the ones that made the WC finals (France and Italy). Italy has actually seen success after a total reformation post-Lippi, while France is sinking without Zidane.

i just got back from portugal, didnt have time to reply my bad. im glad brazil won, just shows that re amping the team by taking ppl like ramires, pato, lucio, robinhio and a numerous other vets to include a team of new and young players worked out for them.

@aqua: germany's academy is ranked #1 right now.

@gandalf: i hated the 2006 italy, because of matarazzi and the cockiness of that team. they were hated and they got it only because zidane fucked up. but now italy is a whole different team with a different mentality and i think they can be the best again.

Same, that final broke my heart. Zidane was always my favourite player. GOAT imo. But, thats exactly it, Italy has done an impressive job to reform its football and image and I like that. Its exactly what I said in what you quoted :o.
