nas is probably the best rapper, honestly nothing has captured me as well as illmatic first did.
producer wise though, kanye is one of my favorite producers ever. he does some absolutely GREAT sampling. like its fucking ridiculous

FREE VOODOO

Gift of Gab (Nia, Blazing Arrow)
Pharoahe Monch (Internal Affairs, all the Organized Konfusion albums)
Cage (Hell's Winter, Movies for the Blind, Waterworld)
GZA (Liquid Swords, stuff with Wu-tang)
Kool G Rap (I personally prefer 4,5,6 and Hitman's Diary over his stuff with DJ Polo)
Black Thought (Illadelph Halflife, Game Theory, Things Fall Apart)
Blackstar (Mos Def & Talib Kweli, but their best stuff is on the Blackstar album)
Aceyalone (A Book of Human Language, All Balls don't Bounce, Haiku D'Etat)
Vast Aire (The Cold Vein)
Vakill (The Darkest Cloud, Worst Fears Confirmed)
Mobb Deep (Hell On Earth, The Infamous, Murda Muzik)
Andre 3000 (Aquemini, ATLiens, Stankonia)

favorite albums by said artists in parenthesis.

Nas is my favorite - Illmatic was great, and people underrate his later albums because of how good his first was. Yes, some of them weren't good at all... I'M LOOKING AT YOU NASTRADAMUS, but nearly every album he's every released has 3 dope tracks. Favorite song is Purple.

Blu has quickly become one of my favorites(TY RMIDY) The guy is a good lyricist and what he says is applicable to everyone. His lyrics have significance, and the way he delivers is incredible. Show me the Good Life and Simply Amazin' are my two favorite songs.

MF Doom - The weirdest son of a bitch ever. What he rapes about seldom makes sense the first go around(it's hard to even catch all of what he's saying sometimes) but his flow is unique, his persona(s) are a cool aspect of his rap that gives him something different than other rappers. Kookies and Rap Snitch Knishes are good songs.

Black Thought of The Roots - The guy is incredible.
