need help with mouse

I just got an intellimouse 3.0 and the control panel that comes with has absolutely nothing for reducing mouse speed. When I slow down mouse speed in windows control panel it does nothing in game, it only applies to the desktop. I'm running 1-1 with mouse_acceleration 0 and its still too fast.

Any ideas on how to get this shit to slow down?

go to control panel, mouse, then disable pointer precision.

and there should be an option for pointer speed in cp, even if it doesn't show up in your mouse's specific drivers

yea im pretty much fucked. I always played 400dpi on my g5 but since it broke and this mouse was less than half the cost of a new 518 or G5 I just went with this because I heard they last forever. I'll just have to learn how to aim with a sensitive mouse I guess. ctupro flickshooting here I come.

Honestly, it's halo's fault you can't get it slow enough. I have an 3.0 too and it's perfect at 2 sens in quakelive. Try it out with some other games and see if it's better in those.

Have you tried overclocking your usb to 500 hz? Some people have said that it's made their mouse feel a little slower.

500hz is better than 1000hz, more stable. Leave the mie3.0 settings alone, just use halo's sens and accel. You can technically change the sens with the drivers but I wouldnt recommend it. Good mouse choice btw.

i just recently (w/n the last 3-4 months) slowed my mouse down to sub 1-1 and it was way too slow xD
took me 5-6 18" swipes to turn around 180 degrees and i would look like a retard when i was in a ghost (but we'd still win most of the time 2ez)

that being said, my mx518 is on the fritz for the 2nd time in 3 years and i just barely (bought it 6/10/2007) got the free warranty replacement again /\__/\

logitech > all

Yea I read a lot of reviews on the intellimouse 3.0 and one guy spilled water on his, dropped it a few times, and he's had it for 7 years. I'd rather have a reliable mouse instead of one that only lasts a year or two. I.E. my g5

Its not just about reliability, the shape is great, and it is one of the only mice without prediction or acceleration. The side buttons are crap though.

I got it fixed.

Basically you bind one of the side buttons to precision boost and you can adjust the speed. Everything works perfectly now.

As I said, that will only make it less precise and give you strange accel/prediction.

thats really not true at all. it's not the same thing as "enable pointer precision" in control panel.

he installed the intellipoint software that allows you to specify button binds. one of the perks is precision boost, which is essentially the same thing as changing dpi on a g5, etc.

theres no mouse accel added on, and because the mouse has no prediction, changing the sensitivity is not going to magically create prediction.

and there are more than enough mice you can buy without prediction than to say "one of the only without prediction".

The mie3.0 is not a g5, it has a much simpler sensor and limiting its dpi, is done by throwing values out, the dpi itself does not change, identical to how windows does it if you use it slow a mouse down from a cp. You dont want the drivers to interpolate or filter your mouse inputs. Regardless whether it says it will create prediction or acceleration the tracking will not be accurate once you mess around with the settings.

I'm not sure about prediction, but it will give you weird acceleration. You'll be better off getting used to the speed than using precision booster.

turns out microsoft has the same 3 year warranty xD

i went and bought a 3.0 even though my new 518 comes on mundey

selling a dying mx518 (still has some life in it, only turns off for 5-8 sec at a time every 20-30 min) for 5$(cost of shipping)

i enabled precision booster with my 1.1a and it hasnt caused any "weird acceleration" or any prediction or any negative accel or anything. it's simply slower by a little bit, nothing else.
