How does it smell? Does it retain a natural scent, or do you think maybe the moisture built up too much and contributed to a nasty smell? The hairs are all amber, a good sign of ripeness. However, some of the lower buds hairs' could definitely turn amber before the newer, higher buds do, so a depiction of ripeness would be best determined by using a microscope under 60x magnification and seeing if the trichome heads are milky or amber or a mix. But, judging by the amount of popped-out trichomes, it appears the bud got good light, and maintained healthy growth throughout. I don't see anything wrong with it at all. they are the most ripe when the amber hairs start to wither

There's absolutely nothing wrong with a little leaf that grew right next to the bud...it grew right next to the damn bud so it's covered in just as many trichomes. Chalupa, incorrect. It is most ripe when viewed under a 60x microscope, and the trichomes are about 50/50 milky and amber; an even mix is usually good. However, the hairs are not a good indicator, for the hairs on the lower parts of the plant will start to turn amber several weeks before harvesting time, while new growth along the top buds indicate white hairs. Which do I go by? The newly sprouted white hairs or the older amber hairs? They don't all turn amber at the same time. Hairs can't "grow too long". WTF? That's like saying the hairs on your head can grow too long...it's a relative assumption. The hairs just simply grow, there is no cutting-off point...it's like you're saying the bud needs a haircut. There's mismanagement, like maybe they didn't trim the leaves well enough in veg and the buds didn't get enough light in flower because they were covered by other leaves. No one ever harvests too-late unless they were just clumsy and didn't check the microscope in the window of time they were supposed to.
