Well, he brought up (I think) the point; why not use effects that make it seem like the footage is older, if we care about the music being older. My point above was that music that represents its time can give you more of a feeling of immersion. I responded by saying that older video quality would maybe detract from the viewer experience. I wasn't talking about old audio quality, rather old music for a movie that took place in the past. You talk about the effects too (which I think you mean video editing?), but take an explosion for example. Going back to my post regarding the 1930's, pretend there is a big gun fight and somebody shoots something and makes it blow up. If you use older effects, it would not look very realistic. Though, if you use more recent effects (to a degree, not overdoing it) you can make it look much more realistic. The further you go back in time, the explosions don't get less realistic (real explosions). It would only make sense to continue using the latest technology to show what was happening, as it can be the most accurate. That is one reason for not using outdated effects. If I didn't get your point, reiterate. e* Sorry if my posts aren't making sense, my mind isn't in the zone atm. Edited by Opeth, May 12 2013, 12:21 PM.

i already tried to clarify what i meant. and truly you have a dizzying intellect. following is an unfavorable review of the great gatsby, that doesnt mention the music. i thought it was a good or great movie/ story. http://www.csmonitor.com/The-Culture/Movies/2013/0509/The-Great-Gatsby-is-an-over-the-top-misfire?nav=87-frontpage-spotlight |

Oh haha. I have sam on ignore; that makes more sense now. But people do use effects or filming techniques to make it seem more dated. Sometimes it works well and sometimes it doesn't |

Saw fast 6 today to wait for the next showing of the new star trek because the one I showed up for was sold out. 2/10 - by far one of the cheesiest movies ever, honestly thought I was watching transformers at one point because of how many "omg cgi" un-needed scenes they had. Holy shit this was bad and any of you retards that think this was good, just wow. Spoiler: click to toggle finally saw star trek on the other hand afterwards, not sure what I'd rate it but it was really enjoyable for me (big sci fi fan) liked it a lot more than the first. worth seeing if you liked the first one. Transformers 4 release date: someday all new cast: Mark Wahlberg in the lead with Nicola Peltz as his daughter, Jack Reynor as her race car-driving boyfriend, and supporting cast members like Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer (as a villain) and Sophia Myles. Cloverfield and She's Out of My League star T.J. Miller will be playing Wahlberg's best friend, a fellow mechanic. to bad the last good transformers movie was a cartoon from 1989, nah i guess the first recent reboot was good. ![]() ![]()

Hangover III (Since the movies that are out and are coming out are really good you should probably wait until this comes out on dvd, just saying) 7/10- I think everyone was expecting way too much from it. I thought it was fucking hilarious, had an awesome time. The ending was a little abrupt but after 10 seconds into the credits they show a clip which topped off the movie. I think they should have just added that into the main movie but whatever, it was fucking crazy. Can't wait to see After Earth this saturday :) |

I haven't heard one good thing about After Earth sadly but not surprised considering the director has a history of making bad films ( M. Night Shamalamadingdong) I saw Star Trek Into Darkness and loved it except for the fact that it was somewhat predictable but still one of the most entertaining movies I've watched, Benedict Cumberbatch nailed his role. 8.5/10 Also for anyone who is looking forward to Pacific Rim you should definitely watch the following 2 featurettes, Guillermo Del Toro is making everyone's 11 year old fantasy of monster movies real. I've had quite a bit of time to spare recently so I've watched a lot of south korean movies recently, here is just some of them. The Man From Nowhere 9/10 - Easily one of the best movies I've ever watched and some of the best fight scenes you will ever see, if you do not mind reading subtitles you should definitely 100% watch this south korean movie. Oldboy 10/10 - I've seen some posts about it already but I thought it was just so great, brilliantly written and Min-sik Choi is just amazing. I Saw The Devil 8.5/10 - This movie contains some "disturbing" scenes to certain people but it is hell of a watch, Byung Hun Lee is such a great actor, shame his talent is being wasted with the trashy GI Joe movies. The Host 6.5/10 - It was pretty cheesy IMO but I think what ruined the experience for me is that the download I watched was dubbed horribly so I have to re watch with subtitles one of these days I've downloaded a lot more movies which I'll get around to when I get the chance but here's some of them: The Good, The Bad and the Weird Memories of Murder Mother Battle Royale |

since you seem to be binging on korean movies I'll also recommended: the chaser, the rest of the vengeance trilogy, save the green planet, a tale of two sisters, and a bittersweet life. all four of those are good btw and you'll probably enjoy them. memories of murder probably being my favorite out of the four. (i am aware battle royale is japanese) |
