said that after watching the first two minutes because I had to go scrim on csgo. Obviously after watching it for 7 minutes long and watching the ending I realized it wasn't a trailer and it was a short film.

think so?

recently i watched pacific rim, the purge, the way way back, and man of steel

the way way back was good. the purge wasn't great but it at least brought some debate. however, found no merit in pacific rim. i thought most of the lines and acting were kind of corny. the movie was a let down and couldn't finish it. i really liked man of steel but that could be because i was really high.

Pacific Rim wasn't the BEST movie by any means but its miles better than the transformers movies which were made only to make money. Especially since it is an original movie, but you can argue that its drawn a lot of inspiration from anime. Sure it had its cheesy moments but what separates it from Transformers is that you don't have awful characters that you don't care a smidgen about. Its also a beautiful movie to look at, saw it in IMAX and I'm glad I did. 7.5/10

Del Toro's best work still is Pan's Labyrinth and the Devil's Backbone. I also liked Don't be afraid of the dark which he wrote.

They may have been made to make money but that isn't reason to consider it bad. Somewhat similarly, there are plenty of movies where a director/writer try to make the movie meaningful and completely fail. I'm not sure if I'd call Pacific Rim original. I thought of it as like a new Godzilla (with >transformers graphics) meets Gundam or something. Though, there could have been a concept or film entirely like this in the past already that I just don't know about. I suppose people could have said Transformers was a beautiful movie to look at however many years back that was. I thought Pacific Rim had potential before it came out. I liked the idea that aliens were coming from the bottom of the ocean. Regardless, even if I'd seen it in IMAX, I probably would have thought it a joke. I usually don't find myself making fun of movies but that was probably the only one in a long time that I have. I approached it with an open mind too, with a little bit of eagerness.

In theaters March 28, 2014? I can't wait, but a missed opportunity to portray the prehistoric people as elegantly dressed or sophisticated in culture instead of the standard Hollywood mad max costumes. And I'd bet Noah and his 3 sons and their wives were African and Asian looking, not just European. Or who knows, the how human diversity thing could have started 100 years later after the Tower of Babel incident and Noah and family were straight Africans. Modern archaeology and anthropology thinks the first humans were africans. Either way, the ark came to rest in modern day turkey on Mt Ararat.

that arny movie has potential to not be horrible, david ayer makes decent films.

what i watched recently

lost in translation 8/10 - good movie but honestly wouldn't re-watch, got basically nothing out of it, has some funny scenes here and there and bill murray's acting was really great and an honest performance from scarlet johansson. some really amazing writing and direction.

metropolis(2001) - anime movie that was inspired by the 1927 classic silent film which i haven't seen yet but is really an adaptation of a manga from 1949 i believe. this movie is gorgeous, i love the detail katsuhiro otomo(akira) puts in his movies, not just the foreground but the background is so detailed. i think the most interesting aspect of this movie is its soundtrack, it plays jazz throughout along with classic music like ray charles "i can't stop loving you" at the end of the movie which is honestly such a powerful ending that will stick with me. a really great movie but it is a slow burn. 8.5/10

Catching Fire 6/10 (went with family whom came from AZ)

The movie was 100% made to build up for the next part which I disliked(yes I know, that's how series are supposed to be). Didn't have much action and it seemed way too short. The next one should be super good though.

you right you right. i did forget that one and dont know about a lot of others. Like "The Grand Budapest Hotel" looks hilarious.

but the first ninja turtles movie was the sickest movie ever in 1990. after it was a comic book and a role playing game i guess.

The live action ninja turtles movie has megan fox, no thanks.

I cannot wait for The Wolf of Wall Street, and I have mixed emotions about the next Fast & Furious movie. They sucked ass post Tokyo Drift, but seeing as all movies post Tokyo Drift take place before it, we might be able to get some more action from its characters. Seeing as there was more info on Hans death in the 6th movie.

Meh, I'd prefer that chick that fights alongside Thor to Natalie Portman easily. Eeeeeeeeeeeasily. The movie was really good IMO. I like some of these movies that have fantastical(?) worlds / races. The movie was pretty funny at parts, mostly Loki's, and there were a lot of creative aspects to it, like the way they honored the dead. The Gatekeeper is still a boss too. A bit predictable but I don't really care, Imaginationland is fun.
