hobbit 2 was so much better than the first imo. resembles LOTR more closely. the tauriel + kili semi-romance could have gone the way of the never-in-this-lifetime route but whatever I just chose to ignore it. The Necromancer is in the hobbit book though briefly but I think Jackson is taking more than the hobbit (also putting in appendices etc.. from tolkien) and putting it in the hobbit movies. Smaug was really great and even though he was monologuing that's kinda his thing seeing as he's supposed to be an arrogant ass who loves the sound of his own voice (and for a good reason, cumberbatch beastin) however I still have a lot of complaints: the action scenes are still way too cartooney. Unexpected journey did it way too much (that fucking goblin cave scene where they fall down 3kms and then the 3 ton king lands on them and everyone is OK) and it's done a bit less here but Legolas never did flip kicks and riding the backs of orcs like a skateboard in LOTR (even though he still had the most stylized kills in LOTR and yes he did shield-board down some stairs in two towers) and it's kind of annoying. For that reason alone the only fight scene I really enjoyed was at the end when Legolas gets his ass beat. the barrel scene was also pretty decent. but in LOTR the fighting felt really heavy and dramatic whereas here they're never in any fucking danger. I know hobbit is a kids book and all but the next movie is going to bring a sense of danger that we haven't even come close to witnessing yet. They get chased by a dragon and not a hair is burnt on their body. the cgi, orcs looked better but that lava and those bees good god. legolas + tauriel having way too big a pretend role. that said, this was way better (give it a 7.5/10 I guess?) and I'm reallllly looking forward to the next one. Stories comin together and some LOTR tie-in + the dramatic action we should have been getting all along + more smaug. however, nothing beats fellowship. really beast movie. interstellar trailer is pre-tty lame. but it's just a teaser, I'd wait for the actual trailer. |

Well, Legolas was stunting on that elephant like creature in one of the LOTR movies (surfs right down its trunk into Gimley and brags). I was the same with the romantic stuff tho. I thought they'd just added it in there for female appeal or something but I didn't really care about it. |

true true, but even when he does that he kinda has to balance himself and he isn't flawless in the execution. Here he's just doin flips and shit. Kicking orcs dead with a kick to the knee, just kinda nonsensical. Same with bombur just spinning around once his barrel breaks and tornado cutting everyone. Tauriel was easily added for female appeal but the romance subplot is lame, only romance needed is the one growing between bilbo and the ring also that credits song is awful, jackson just put it in cause his daughter likes the artist or whatever. just silly stuff. I'm glad Aragorn decided not to come back despite being asked. |

They put a lot of effort into the orcs it seemed, but they just weren't really taken seriously. The barrel scene was humorous (the rolling part) but maybe had it not been like Master Chief running around meleeing grunts on ezmode, it'd have been better. I don't really know though, they could have went in the right direction with that. |

Yes this movie is more of a Lotr type of feel but if you've ever read the hobbit, the mood of the hobbit and the LOTR are completely different. The hobbit is supposed to be more childish and fun natured while the LOTR is supposed to be more serious. I didn't particularly like how they were trying to tie the movies together. It's just unnecessary. |

I've read them all and I was actually looking forward to it being tied together (though by that I don't mean bringing Legolas back needlessly, but rather more in depth Necromancer stuff etc). I think they could easily have kept that fun tone (which IMO were my favorite parts of the first one, I thought the humorous/light hearted scenes were better) but, as you know, shit will get a bit more real in the next one so I like that it's getting darker as it goes (which kind of parallels Sauron coming back etc..) I think There and Back Again has the potential to be really great and maybe rival ROTK. Depending on the appendices he uses to tie in to LOTR it could be as well paced and full of story as Fellowship but that's shooting a bit high. |

I'd recommend Nebraska. Almost the entire movie straddles the line between awkward and funny. The scenes which don't stand out in a good way. The best way to describe it is: an adventure into senility, alcoholism and economic hardship in the west. Anyone else looking forward to the grand budapest hotel? |

this definitely. ![]() i also watched the hobbit with some extended family tonight. i guess i ll read what other people have posted before i post. it exceeded my expectations. the elf woman (not in the book) was def my favorite character. cumberpatch did ok with the voice, but i think a lot of fx were used on the voice. the 70's cartoon voice of smaug still kills it. yikes they deleted all the full movies from youtube. hobbit part 3 ... Spoiler: click to toggle lol and yes, that 'interstellar' trailer was disappointing Edited by HPT-8, Dec 19 2013, 04:42 PM.

saw the hobbit and anchorman 2 last night.. hobbit was good but some of the close up shots were really blurry and you couldn't tell what was going on(might have been where i sat, i was in one of the front rows) but smaug was awesome, i felt some of the dialogue was seriously corny though. 8/10 though, can't wait for the 3rd part. anchorman 2 - this movie was really funny but i felt like some of the scenes were REALLY really really dragged out, the movie felt longer than the hobbit. steve carrell was absolutely hilarious and there were some ridiculous scenes. 8/10 also.. better than the first one and easily one of the best comedies i've seen in quite a while. trailer for transcendance, this movie looks really cool, just hoping it wont be convoluted like the trailer. |

avatar 2 and 3 will occur. releasing in december 2015 i think. They agreed to invest 500 million in New Zealand, whatever that means, in exchange for filming there. some facts relating to the 'wolf of wallstreet" movie http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304773104579270911492521346 first hd still from the Noah movie. ![]() also wanted to comment on the Hobbit as an allegory on selfishness and compulsion. hopefully peter jackson and new line cinema are busy getting the rights to the rest of Tolkien's work since the Lord of the Rings Movie version was far too shallow for Tolkien Jr. to appreciate and wasnt forthcoming previously |

the wolf of wall street - 9.5/10 - Been waiting on this movie for a while and it honestly did not dissapoint me. Even though it was 3 hours long, i wished it was longerrr. Hilarious as fuck and a lot to take away from the whole story. It's brilliant and i would watch it again. Did not expect it to be funny though but i laughed my ass off Spoiler: click to toggle |
