Really no comments from you nerds????
My only comment is that the film's PG-13 rating pisses me off.
Well if they want to make money they gotta keep it pg-13.

And tbh I think they could do a lot and still make it fun as shit. Like have deadpool cussing a bunch and shit, but every cuss word is bleeped out and he can physically hear his own words being bleeped out. Would be fantastic as he gets upset that he can't hear himself cuss, etc. Same shit with blood. WHY AREN'T THEY BLEEDING!? etc

Then they could just go ahead and release an uncut version after that is rated R and make even more money.

lot of venues they could go with.

enjoyable. Didn't care much for the ending but there were lots of shit in here which seems likely they are setting up for an extended tv series or something.

i was guardians of the galaxy tonight and thought it was just ok. its really hard to pull off a 'team' in a film and this film is a case where it didn't work and its not something a lot of directors are good at(even peter jackson fucked it up in the hobbit films when he pulled it off really well in the lotr trilogy). i thought the characters were pretty meh with the exception of bradley cooper's rocket raccoon and vin diesel's groot who honestly stole the show(with one line, lol). it just felt like the film was just a huge rush, nobody got enough time on screen. the emotional aspect of the film was executed quite well though weirdly enough. 6/10

what were you expecting going in, and if your expectations had been different, how do you think your rating would be affected?

i was just expecting a light-hearted comedy, without any expectations of complexity in story, characters, etc.. it isn't too often that i expect something will be funny, or even think a movie is funny for that matter, but i found it to good fun. i guess that could be why i liked it so much. i typically watch movies and have pretty high standards, but i let my guard down for some of those critiquing topics. rulaxin

it was funny and it was a fun movie with good action sequences, that's really all i was expecting. i can see why people would like it so much though, i think it has a lil bit of everything for most ages. i was seated beside two teenage asian girls who literally did not stop laughing throughout the movie, there didn't even have to be characters on screen which annoyed me a bit.

what really separates this film from the avengers is that there were origin films for almost all of the characters.(comparing the two cause they are in the same universe)

this movie really did not need 3d though, just another money-grab. hope this is just a fad that goes away soon.

i am really excited for christopher nolan's interstellar, looks beautiful and its not even 3d(yay)! its getting an imax release as well

i'm probably more excited about foxcatcher, whiplash and inherent vice though.

blue ruin was really good, the filmmakers went broke making it so about 10% of its budget is financed by a kickstarter.

i also watched these:
cheap thrills is a really exciting film that has perfect casting and a solid performance from both of the leads. 6.5/10

rich hill dives deep into poverty by following 3 kids who live in a town with little to no opportunity south of kansas city. its really just a heartbreaking documentary, it screened at sundance earlier this year and took home the grand jury prize. i'd say the only problem with it is its minimal scope but that's cause its an indie doc. 8/10

i watched a couple classics too like some ingmar bergman films(seventh seal, persona), le samourai(heavily inspired drive and dozens of other movies, must see) and jaws today(the definitive summer blockbuster).

Into the Storm: It's kinda bland until the Tornado hits but once it does ... awwwww yeeaahhhh. Appealed to my inner 8 year old for destruction and also left me at awe and a question "Till what extent can we be prepared before nature throws something greater than what we anticipated for?" 8/10

Guardians of the Galaxy: Went into it thinking it would be some really childish thing and it was actually very entertaining for me. I enjoyed the team composition and Rocket has to be the highlight of the movie. The voice acting by Bradley Cooper on Rocket was 10/10 and it made some of the very expected lines very refreshing. Overall all the characters presented themselves very well and it also appealed to my inner 8 year old with a very Marvel-esk story. 9/10.

Lucy: I saw it yesterday and HOLY SHIT OPETH REMEMBER THAT THING I MENTIONED ABOUT MATHEMATICS AND PERECEPTION? WELL THEY USED THAT IDEA!!! :D On another note, it was a very well illustrated scientific concept and references to Hinduism in terms of the ending 100% idea as well as some other shit but w.e. Appealed to my scientific curiosity with regards to the possibility of full cerebral activation at any point of time. Very amusing things which i highly enjoyed. The story itself wasn't that satisfying by any means. It felt sort of bland in a sense because she only had one goal and the only thing that was entertaining was how she was achieving the goal. 9/10.

If it wasn't clear im a pretty ez grader on this stuff haha so we might have some differences in what we rank those movies.

why are they bad
childish / pointless
or
violent / nihilistic. refer to sig. Yes i am aware video games are those things too, but also have elements of self-expression.

the struggle is real. hollywood is not your friend.

i watched noah yesterday, aronofsky is easily one of my favorite directors, so i had to give it a chance. it had some pacing issues but it was for the most part an interesting and visually stunning take on the story of noah. russell crowe nailed his role though and played the part almost jack torrance-esque when they got on the ark.
