I stopped playing Halo because ddosin .. now ive been trying to pub in the knfr for a week now and can't even get past 5 kills without someone crashing the server. Microsoft still does support Halo PC .. and KNFR servers arent free.. come on guys we pay for this. Can we just report this so whoever is doing this can get a penalty..or convicted for Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks? Halo is a great game and I miss how it used to be... game is so much fun and its amazing.. lets try to save it?? |

Thats the job of their internet providers, they do detect when their customers ddos a connection. Fucking enforce fines or something, thinking about it now, that's something that could easily go wrong. |

No they don't. DDoS is distributed across multiple connections. It's a pretty general term that infers little about the how the attacks are carried out. An ISP is pretty limited in their ability to prevent them (they can't). If haloded is crashing and restarting itself then it's more than likely an exploit being used. There are still exploits out there sadly and a certain recently released tool made it easier to figure them out. Edited by Btcc22, May 7 2011, 11:51 AM.

Yeah, Gameservers' watchdog is buggy. It was constantly restarting the server for no reason but didn't report that it had done it. GS confirmed that it had been incorrectly restarting the server after I opened a support ticket to get them to look into it. Their fix? Disable it. Edit: Seems KNFr uses Gameservers too. Perhaps it's the same problem. Edited by Btcc22, May 7 2011, 11:59 AM.
