Take a bad map and make it good in as minimal changes as possible. OR take a good map and make it better. |

speaking from small game perspective bc i don't play large games: basic principle of a good map is: 1) getting power weapons should involve some level of risk (see location of rockets in dammy and prisoner) 2) separate powerups and strong points on the map where possible (dammy, chillout do this well) 3) The less linear the map the better Anything that encourages people to move, rather than hold an area for the whole game and anything that involves making calculated decisions is a good map. damnation and chill out do this the best, provided you play with rockets on (espec for dammy). I really like battle creek but not many people like it for some reason, maybe if the grass didn't make such loud noises it would be better... HeH would be good if half the map wasn't useless space (also lucky randoms are not a good game mechanic...) If I had to fix any map I'd fix derelict by switching the location of the frag and plasma nades and moving pistol ammo exclusively downstairs. Currently every derelict game runs something like follows: 1) are you holding top? YES: good stay top. NO: get top. 2) Repeat step 1. |

Sidewinder Reduce map size by 33% More cover in filed/long Kill port ability from long to base (but not base to long). Gephy Move top side railings down so far near bridge that someone on left rail can be pistoled by someone on left bridge. DC Ports from base to dog leg Ports from dog leg to mid low Ports from mid low to mid high (maybe sniper ledge). Sniper ammo at dog leg. |
