you pick certain parts that fit your ideology, and the parts that create contradiction you either throw out or "we don't understand."

you do not need a book to find answers. you don't need belief to be fulfilled.

this world is about searching for enlightenment, not about sin and repentance.

do you have proof that something like that does not exist? no you do not, and sam does not have the proof to prove that god does exist.

the fact that we decide what we think is right should be what we feel is right to us. if you say what i believe in is stupid, i can exactly attack you by saying what you do believe in is stupid. so attacking others with stupid troll pictures like the ones you 2 have posted here is not going to get you anywhere.
This is the problem, you think you are on a level playing field, that somehow our 'believes' are no different when reduced.

Do you really think this is a matter of asking someone to prove it doesn't exist, or better yet, do you think that is even possible?

Hey Havock prove star wars never happened.

Let me further explain how stupid it is to ask someone to prove something doesn't exist;
To prove that i have cockroaches in my house all i have to do is find one at any time.
To prove that i don't have cockroaches in my house, i have to look in every single area at the same time.
How easy it is to look everywhere at the same time? Not easy, proving a negative is a ridiculous claim, and it holds no weight in arguments.

Secondly you identify the problem without even realizing it.
"the fact that we decide what we think is right should be what we feel is right to us"

Surely you don't think feeling right is some indicator of actually being right. Do you answer tests simply by how you feel?
What about people whose feelings contradict your own, and their feelings simply deceiving them?
In terms of morality, i think it is completely immoral to decide what is morally right simply by how people feel.

I could really care less what you believe, that isn't necessarily what i think it stupid.
What i generally find to be stupid is the reasons and justifications for why you believe it.

But anyway lets get down to specifics, what if your specific religion, why exactly (if you can answer) do you feel it to be right?

also lol at sam, his video summarized;
You Christians need to "remain calm and helpful in our pagan society", because when everyone is judged in the rapture those filthy atheists will get whats coming to them.
So my Christian brothers, don't bother getting angry at atheists, stay calm, god will shoot them down.
put sam out of this, there are extremists from both sides, and it can get retarded arguing with them.

but i like the points u made.

first; the reason why i am asking the question" prove that it doesn't exist" merely reflects the fact that you are trying to say that it doesn't exist. to think that it doesn't exist and to say that it doesn't exist are two different things. and that's where the part of your "test" analogy comes in best. of course you write the right answer because you know it, and you feel good about what you have just written. in this case, no i do not know for sure, but i just have a good feeling.

as for specifics; i'm not an extremist, i mean i have asked myself all these questions. what about muslims and jews or any other religion, is it fair for them according to our teaching that they will go to hell? i believe no it's not because they believe in almost the same thing as we do except a few variation ( aside from the Eastern religions) so, ultimately it comes down to who we are morally. the argument that you use about what people feel is immoral has a flaw in it. it can go both ways, the morality imposed by the religion "good" and morality viewed by non believers. nothing wrong in both, but the other one can also mean, murder, stealing, etc... can all be acceptable. if you say no, i can easily say who gave you or the other to decide that its not? so there's flaw both ways.

As for the bible, it has gotten alot of mockery especially the adam and eve story to begin with right after the evidence of evolution(although is it 100% proven?) big bang theory(are we really sure?) The bible may not have been written on 100% fact basis hence the harsh old testament, the writing is more of a symbolic/parable type of thing that we learn a lesson out of. okay for a second lets say they are real, this world, universe, micro organisms, chain of life, how on earth was it created? simply out of pure luck? maybe? sure? do we know for sure?

reply back, cuz i have alot to ask.

nothing wrong with that. its what u believe in. it cant be 100% false because the universe is expanding, so ur right. but the falls apart part? what do u think happens next? a cycle? if it is a cycle, has there been previous generations of life too? if not, why us this time?

reply back, cuz i have alot to ask.
On the discussion about morality, i must let you know that just because there isn't a god doesn't mean anything goes, and it doesn't even mean morality cannot be objective.
The idea that just because i don't accept the notion of a god meaning i think any action is acceptable is outrageous, it makes me wonder if religious people actually think this point through.
All it means is i need a different reason to explain why something is right/wrong, and already that is more fruitful that simply claiming because god said so.

"although is it 100% proven?"
I'm about to give you science 101
Nothing is proven 100%, nothing. You cannot conclude something with absolute certainty unless you know everything. The earth being round is a scientific theory, we have a lot of evidence and observations which suggest it is, but there could always be something we don't understand making it appear that way.
This is why many we don't teach religion in school, just because it gives an explanation doesn't mean it deserves to be taught. There are scientists who argue that gravity doesn't exist, but they don't get special rights to be taught in school simply because they give a different explanation.
In order to teach something in school you need a to have a degree of certainty about your idea, which means you need a substantial amount of evidence.

Evolution is a scientific theory (this doesn't have the same definition as 'theory'). A scientific theory is the closest any scientific idea can come to an absolute fact; the earth being round/gravity are scientific theories.
We have a substantial amount of evidence, from fossil records (i.e. reptilian jaw lines) to direct observation of physical changes (pepper moth), but we have been aware about breeding and artificial selection for crops, cattle and pets for millenia.
There is always room for doubt, especially when it comes to the details of the official mechanisms, but to outright deny evolution you are being very unreasonable.
The big bang is also a scientific theory, which many lines of evidence and observation.

"how on earth was it created?"

I would like to make this clear, i don't need to be able to give anyone answers on how life was created or how the universe was formed to claim the notion of a god is unlikely. Just because we cannot explain something doesn't mean god exists, it just means we cannot explain it with our current understanding.
I can honestly say i don't have all the answers, and that i have no concept of how the whole universe and its matter was created (big bang doesn't completely explain these), but this does not imply that i must explain it with a supernatural answer.

simply out of pure luck?

Luck isn't a scientific word. Let me tell you a Taoist story to emphasize how arbitrary and subjective the concept of luck is.
A farmer awoke one day to find his horse had escaped.
He was upset, ran to the village elder and said "i am so unlucky, my horse ran away!"
The elder said, "Maybe"
Later that day the horse came back to the farmer, but a wild horse had it also followed it.
The farmer couldn't believe it he rushed back to the elder to tell him, "i am so lucky, the horse returned with another!"
The elder said, "Maybe"
A week later the farmer's son was riding the wild horse, he fell off and broke his leg.
The farmer rushed to the elder and said, "gah, it was bad luck, the wild horse broke my sons leg!"
The elder said, "Maybe" (you starting to see the theme here)
The following week the military entered the village forcing all fit men and boys to enrole.
Because his son had a broken leg he wasn't drafted into war.
The farmer rushed to the elder to tell, "it was luck after all, my son doesn't have to go to war!"
The elder said, "Maybe"

The moral of the story is luck doesn't exist, it is simply our biased and subjective take on events that happen.

The earth wasn't created out of 'luck', like the billions of other cosmic structures, they formed simply because that's how the laws of nature work. Life didn't form on earth simply because of 'luck', it formed here because it could.
This point must be emphasized as many people look at this the wrong way. If life was capable of forming on other planets it will/would have. Just because life on earth is seemingly the only life in the cosmos doesn't mean we were lucky, it would have formed anywhere it could, it did, it evolved, and now it's hard to comprehend when we are considering 4 billion years of history and evolution.

Given the circumstances and events of the universe it wasn't lucky that life formed here, it couldn't have been any other way.

and that's where science and religion differ on explanations -- religion makes the claim that this is how it is, while science is completely fine to say that we don't have all the answers yet. that uncertainty just isn't good enough for some people.

u 2 are making it out as if all Christians do that, they do not.

if you are going to argue with sam, a person who only views one side( and really is a fucking weird ass guy) then this will just be a troll for you. try to be more reasonable with me.

to the very least idea of defending this topic; it would be that for you to argue your point is no less for him to argue his. do you have proof that something like that does not exist? no you do not, and sam does not have the proof to prove that god does exist.

snif snif? obviously i love trolling sam since hes retarded

Sorry its true not all christian are like this, the ones by default like you
are pretty nice

But your idea about proving that something exists and proving something doesnt is total crap, but i think you got that already.

{OLD}
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
We all have sin in our hearts. We all were born with sin.
We were born under the power of sin's control.
- Admit that you are a sinner.

Romans 6:23a "...The wages of sin is death..."
Sin has an ending. It results in death. We all face physical death, which is a result of sin. But a worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from God, and will last for all eternity. The Bible teaches that there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever. It is the place where people who are spiritually dead will remain.
- Understand that you deserve death for your sin.

Romans 6:23b "...But the gift of God is eternal
life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Salvation is a free gift from God to you! You can't
earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it.
- Ask God to forgive you and save you.

Romans 5:8, "God demonstrates His own love for us, in
that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!"
When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin's penalty. He paid the price for all sin, and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! The only condition is that we believe in Him and what He has done for us, understanding that we are now joined with Him, and that He is our life. He did all this because He loved us and gave Himself for us!
- Give your life to God... His love poured out in Jesus on the cross is your only hope to have forgiveness and change. His love bought you out of being a slave to sin. His love is what saves you -- not religion, or church membership. God loves you!

Romans 10:13 "Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!"
- Call out to God in the name of Jesus!

Romans 10:9,10 "...If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."
- If you know that God is knocking on your heart's door,
ask Him to come into your heart.

Jesus said,
Revelation 3:20a "Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him..."
- Is Jesus knocking on your heart's door?

Believe in Him.
Ask Him to come in to your heart by faith,
and ask Him to reveal Himself to you.
Open the Bible to the Gospel of John and read what God says about Jesus,
about you, and about being born again.

God will help you. He loves you.

You need to look for a local church where
God's word is preached. The Bible says that we are to desire
God's word like a newborn baby desires mother's milk.
Aren't you hungry to know the truth?

Water baptism is one of the ways you first show that
you have been joined to Jesus. This is an action, and actions will not save you. However, it is an act of obedience and a symbol of commitment.
The symbolism is this:
When you go down in the water you show that
You have been crucified and buried with Him,

And when you come up out of the water you show that
you have been raised to walk with Him in newness of life.
(See Romans chapter 6)

You have been born again.
(See John chapter 3)

Your body has become God's temple.
Your heart is where He lives.

Forgiveness is yours in Jesus.
And you belong to Him.

You were sin's slave.
But now...

You are a child of GOD!

John 1:12
"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name!"

ultimately it comes down to who we are morally.

It's always come down to that.
Christians 2000 years ago would own slaves, burn witches, murder infidels, etc etc etc, and yet they all considered themselves entirely and utterly Christian, and the Church would of course condone this stuff. Today if someone did that insane stuff, nobody would apply the definition 'christian' to them.

Religion has never really meant much of anything serious to most people except as an avenue to excuse and justify their beliefs and actions, and for a way to elites to manipulate the sheep of society.

Ironically I'd say societies today all around the world are more 'christian' than at any other point in history, despite atheism/agnosticism never being at higher levels (in modern times).

there are harsher passages in the old testament. have u ever read the quran? or the torah?

misinterpretation can be the only problem in these cases, for one fact its like playing the telephone game, the intial message will always be garbled at the end. so im guessing its left for us to decode the message/meaning, not to to take it word for word.

religion in 6 words as posted by many is just blatant stereotyping. yea in the oldern times the Church did make its real bad mistakes and they have learned from that to accept science and to part take in with it side by side. hence its views on abortion, stem cell research, euthanasia etc...

Regarding the Church itself, now its split up about in more than 20 denominations. but that's what happens when power comes into play. the church knows that they are corrupt, which is why pope john paul when he was living apologized to the world for their faults and actions.

Making it seem like the Church is manipulating or forcing people to convert, they have attempted in the past but not now, they have changed too.

you have been joined to Jesus.

John 1:12
"As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name!"
there are harsher passages in the old testament. have u ever read the quran? or the torah?

misinterpretation can be the only problem in these cases, for one fact its like playing the telephone game, the intial message will always be garbled at the end. so im guessing its left for us to decode the message/meaning, not to to take it word for word.
havock,
I think jefferson tried to edit a version of the bible himself. cant really do that. Ask Smith of the mormoms about golden plates from space with garbled egyptian on them...that guy had a private army and a ton of wives and the only person to ever be assassinated while running for us president....

The English bible we have today is transcribed from greek and latin which were transcribed from aramaic and hebrew. It is less than 0.5% different than the oldest extant copies, like the dead sea scrolls, which were discovered in 1946 and written in the first century. The errors are copyist errors and not substantial against it's message.

No other holy book is even close to that level of accuracy, ancient or otherwise. The teaching of the bible must be taken completely or not at all.

Flare's religion in 6 words: 'Suck my dick, i'm a shark.'

Havock

ultimately it comes down to who we are morally.

Ironically I'd say societies today all around the world are more 'christian' than at any other point in history, despite atheism/agnosticism never being at higher levels (in modern times).
religion in 6 words as posted by many is just blatant stereotyping. yea in the oldern times the Church did make its real bad mistakes and they have learned from that to accept science and to part take in with it side by side. hence its views on abortion, stem cell research, euthanasia etc...

For the record, I wasn't dissing just the church.

Sam your knowledge about the Bible is pretty basic so please don't throw out percentages like "0.5%" deviation which is just plain fucking wrong.
