Are you that fucking stupid to believe that excuse? This guy had several corporations forming campaigns around him 'for never giving up' He didn't give up for cancer, but you think he would give up over an argument concerning his life achievements? I don't know for sure, but i certainly don't buy a word the guy says. Also lol@ people who were inspired by him in the first place, what a shitty hero to have (even before he was exposed as a cheat). |

why on earth would someone as dumb as you be able to re-produce gatman...i expected better. lance armstrong is a hero. the guy is in such good shape his resting heart rate is 32, he is an absolute animal to accomplish what he accomplished, not to mention the fact that he beat cancer like 30 times Edited by connybear, Sep 30 2012, 01:53 AM.

Honestly i never got why people thought he was so great. He was a poster boy of a huge team paid to make him win. The poster boy of never giving up, as if never giving up life to ride a bike is a noble achievement. Seriously, why do you think it is so great to survive cancer, as opposed to what? People who die to cancer being pathetic? If you beat cancer, you are one fortunate person. Hell, you are a tough person for enduring the grueling treatments. But... If you beat cancer and write a book about it, found a marketing campaign around it and give some of the profit to charity you are a hero? Lets not even pretend that he is great for beating cancer, its not something you consciously choose to overcome, there may be some placebo based influence but surviving cancer isn't determined by you being a tough nut. He isn't a hero, he is a liar, a drug cheat and hes sitting on a pile of money. Chuck in being fortunate enough to beat cancer and he is one lucky son of a bitch. |

so you honestly don't think it's an accomplishment to weather countless chemo treatments and get yourself back into such amazing shape that you win arguably the toughest sporting event in the WORLD? do you have any idea how much work that took? there's no proof he lied about anything, he's just done defending himself. he can only beat people over the head with his countless clean tests so many times... |

I'm not saying its not a feat to beat cancer, i'm saying he got way too much praise for it-especially since it is something out of his control. Do i think its amazing he continued cycling afterwards? Absolutely not, like i said before riding a bike isn't a noble achievement. And when you are getting paid the amounts he was for it, it is certainly not noble nor inspirational. >no proof he lied about anything Now you are just being purposefully stupid. There are countless teammates and individuals involved with Armstrong coming forward with evidence. Because like i said, he was the poster boy of a team, the tour de france isn't an individual effort. Do you honestly think he wouldn't fight the charges if there wasn't evidence against him? Do you seriously believe 'the man who never gave up' would give up over an allegation? And he hasn't won the tour de france once, i have won as many titles as he has. Not a beast, just a man who took performance enhancers to pretend he was. Edited by gatman, Sep 30 2012, 03:51 AM.

riding a bike isn't a noble achievement. riding one for a month across the alps with the best cyclists in the world is. next u'll be saying kobe "only shoots a ball in a hoop" or steve smith only "catches balls". he didn't get praise just for beating cancer, he got praise for a) not letting it de-rail his career and b) for winning the next 7 tour de frances. if he did actually cheat it's disheartening for sure, but the man was still an inspiration |

Because he was doped up earning millions for riding a bike for a month he has exalted the moral or mental characteristics of a human? Shooting a hoop well doesn't do that, catching a ball doesn't do that, and cheating doesn't do that. I've already attacked the reasons you have given me that he got praise, ill repeat them again for you; -"He" didn't beat cancer, its not something you physically wrestle and win -Its not a feat to continue doing your job after illness, especially when you are earning millions. -He had the best funding, i.e. the best team supporting him and the best technology keeping him ahead of the tests. And yet after it all he has 0 titles. The only thing i can comprehend that is inspiring from that is that he was able to lie and cheat his way to millions. Take Christopher Hitchens for example, who died of oesophageal cancer last year, does he deserve less respect by dying to cancer? Does he deserve less respect because he wrote and campaigned for matters that concerned our wellbeing and society instead of catching a ball or shooting a hoop? If a suit beat cancer, went back to his corporate job would you applaud that? Think about how many people today beat cancer and continue living their lives. The inspirational part i find about Armstrong beating cancer, continuing his job (by cheating) and making a ludicrous amounts of monies is not him as a person, it is that so many pillocks can read. dood cheated but from what I understand his whole team cheated and who's to say other people weren't cheating? (Like in baseball) Think it's silly they are taking away his titles, but will it make me watch the tour de france any less than the 0% I already watch it? So really I don't care and Lance is still sitting strong with 100 million in the bank account. Not only that he still has an office at the cancer place, they just dropped him as the poster boy. Taking away his titles was a decision by the ICU. That union has no business in punishing baseball players. |
