This is one similar to mine and it works really well. I've had it about a year and no problems.

I don't think nvidia cards can do more than 3 simultaneously.. If you want 4, go with a radeon card. Mine can handle 4 at once, but has 5 ports. I got mine for 199$ during the holidays. Oh and you'll need some adapters and cables for mdp -> mdp/dp/hdmi/dvi-d....

What was your CPU? :o

Ya, the 9800GT is pretty dated.. lol

I've had 3 PC's since 09 so you did pretty good for it lasting that long. If your PSU is bottom mount and it sucks air from the bottom of the case, make sure you don't set your computer on carpet.. you'll choke the PSU of air and it will overheat.

Or if you get too much dust collected onto the fan, that will do it too. I work in PC repair, I've seen some nasty things.

For a new PC, I'd wait till you got 800$ to play with.. You'll use around 600-700 of it. Mine was close to 700 and that was during the holidays.

Not a callabooty fan... but just a video to show performance.

If you ever build a pc, wait till thanksgiving.. Newegg's deals are amazing+ mail in rebates all over the place, which really come in handy for fuel..

I looked at my account, I paid $655 after mail in rebates, 700$ if I didn't do the rebates. Mine didn't have a CD drive either but I had one kicking around that I just chucked in.

It wasn't for him to build it, lol. I was trying to show how cheap parts are around the holidays. Also, its hard to build a PC for that much if you want it to last you a few years, which is why I said wait till you have around 800 to play with.

Anyways, if I were you I would try a new power supply. And if that doesn't work I'd just get a new CPU/MOBO/RAM setup with a new PSU and you can keep ur case hdd and DVD

If there's a microcenter by you they have an i5 special right now you can get a 3570k + asus p8 MOBO for like 300 bucks plus however much ram you want to have and a new PSU and you will still fall well under that 500

I couldn't afford intel, and I wanted the best I could get for the cash.. and I wasn't getting an i5... It would have to be a high-end i7 if I was going with intel and thats well over 300$, just for the CPU. Intel is better yes, but AMD is excellent for budget.

# of monitors you can have is only limited by how much your graphics can handle
assuming standard 8 usb port motherboard and 2 usb ports used for mouse and keyboard
so buy 6 of these
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817366045
then 42 of these
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815158325
and 42 of these

Power supplies degrade over time so its not usually a bad idea to slighty overshoot your needs.
