case: 60
power supply: 65
processor: 95
motherboard: 85
ram: 50
video card: 100
hard drive: 80
disk drive: 18

total essential parts: $553

the rest you probably have laying around and could use, but I'll list them anyway:

mouse: 10
keyboard: 9
wireless card (if you'll be using wifi): 25

so this would leave ~$400 for three monitors, which sounds like a lot but the cheapest 27" I could find with good reviews was this, which is $200... so you'd have to get on ebay or craigslist for the monitors with the remaining money

Man thats a rip off... I mean its a good build but damn, I picked up my entire rig for 650$.. and its an FX8350 witha 7870. Lesson learned, build computers on black friday!

If you want speed, then I'd get an i5-3570k, 7770 [can do some light-moderate gaming for future], 630w PSU, H77 mobo, antec case, g.skill memory, and a 7200 RPM 1TB drive. For $596.93, this is WITH shipping and if you do the Mail n rebates.

Not that bad for the price, IMO.. and you'll still be able to do some gaming on it.

now its $614.92 lol

Just found the CPU even cheaper, 169.99$ at microcenter...

too much money. $565 including mail in rebates, leaving $300 for 3 27" monitors? my total didn't even include mail in rebates... plus ctu wants this shit now not on black friday... lastly he specifically said 3 monitors and no gaming, if anything would be a rip off it would be buying a 7770 and an i5-3570K and not do any gaming l@l.

edit, now ur total is 630? forget about the 3 monitors, no gaming? jesus

a lot of what hpt41 gave u is a bit over-priced. u can get a lot of shit for a bit less. overall on that setup u can probably save 100+. I'd search part by part for the best possible prices. Also, if u wont invest into a gfx card, then u should at least invest in a SSD. just imo.

i5 for processing power... 7770 cause anything other than that is garbage, imo. Most games won't even max out an i3 dual core, come to think of it.

Black friday is the best time, didn't say its best to wait.

Well if you want something that doesn't need to game and you want 3 monitors, go get a dual core pentium laptop at best buy for $270, and 2 USB to VGA adapters and there your go. I was trying to make a powerful rig per price point. Anything right now is over priced. That RAM used to be 30$ at retail and now that shits out the ass at 60$.

I made that rig within 5 minutes and had to go do shit.. I'm sure one could do better if you want to sit there for an hour or so and poke around.

SSD's are good but they're just fucking expensive.. about 1$ per GB which is stupid since they're easier and quicker to manufacture, for that I refuse to buy an SSD. But if you got money, they will help you performance wise, big time compared to a mechanical drive.

Just added everything up, incl shipping and without MIR's.. It's $644.91 in total. The only part I'm not certain about is the mobo. I know GB makes good boards but as I said, I slapped it together. I saw someone said its probably best to source out the parts over the net for the lowest price possible, which is a good idea. You'll get all your parts at different times but it may or may not be worth it, depending on your situation.

I'm used to making AMD instead of intel builds. I have a 970 mobo instead of a 990. The reason I didn't get a 990, is mainly just for crossfire reasons. I don't plan on CF and a 990 chipset can do it better than a 970 chipset, due to different NB's. It basically boils down to what your exact use is. Otherwise the 990 and 970 will deliver the same performance, if not CF'ing.

Just word processing and web? Gaming and videos? Video editing and photoshop? You said you didn't wanna play any games but it depends on your other uses. For instance if you would like to do lots of video editing. If you do, I'd recommend you an nvidia card over an AMD card. Nvidia cards do a better job when it comes to video editing. They split the time nearly in half, as it uses the card for rendering.

Basically what will your use be? If you plan on doing Web and youtube only, then an i3 or AMD A series or would best suit you. I could play Dirt 3 on my ol A6-3600 and ran it on low settings at a constant 60FPS.

also, you should answer hpt-41's questions about what it would be used for - like why you want 3 monitors anyway, etc.
that would really help

k, this should be final then if your needs are "java + multiple internet browsers and other programs"

same case, more efficient power supply, more powerful ram, more powerful processor, good motherboard unlike hpt-41's sketchy one, 7770 video card for multiple monitors and free far cry 3, 1TB of storage, and added an SSD so all the windows/browsers are completely lag-free and boot time is under 10 seconds

case: 60

power supply: 60

processor: 247

motherboard: 63

video card: 140

ram: 70

SSD: 80

hard drive: 75

disk drive: 18

k, this should be final then if your needs are "java + multiple internet browsers and other programs"

same case, more efficient power supply, more powerful ram, more powerful processor, good motherboard unlike hpt-41's sketchy one, 7770 video card for multiple monitors and free far cry 3, 1TB of storage, and added an SSD so all the windows/browsers are completely lag-free and boot time is under 10 seconds

case: 60

power supply: 60

processor: 247

motherboard: 63

video card: 140

ram: 70

SSD: 80

hard drive: 75

disk drive: 18

total: $813

2500k is a few years old.. why not the 3570k? It's also 30$+ cheaper, and runs at an extra .10ghz lol.

http://www.amazon.com/Intel-Core-i5-3570K-Quad-Core-Processor/dp/B007SZ0E1K/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1368989841&sr=1-1&keywords=i5-3570k

I'd probably leave the SSD out, imo. I see lots of people have probs if they're under 120GB. You run out of space, especially if you don't have the option to save stuff elsewhere. Like the application doesn't let you. I installed every update one could for w7 on my laptop and ran out of space on a 320GB drive. But if you do get an SSD, go for an intel 520 series. Lowest failure rate there is among SSD's.

For the power supply, I'd just stick with the 630w Rosewill I listed earlier. They both have a single 12v rail and aren't much different, except one has more wattage. I feel a 430 is too limiting for upgrades, as most GPU's require a minimum 500watt PSU. A 630 will give you the headroom. Also I have that 630 PSU in my build. My PC runs 24/7 and its silent and solid voltages. [Used multimeter, doesn't flux.]

If you ditch the SSD and you still wanna hit that 800$ headroom though, get a Radeon HD 7870. You'll be able to play any game you want on max-ultra settings at 60hz. That is the same card I have and it is silent, unless you kick the fan up to 100%. Playing BF3 on max settings, I believe it goes to 47% and its still quiet. Just a bit of some advice on GPU's, don't get a cheesy one with a small fan. Those small fans are notorius for going out and being very loud and annoying. Typically the bigger the fan the more quiet it can be. Bigger fans can go slower RPM's and still move mass amounts of air.

As for the case, get this. A friend of mine has it and it is the best damn cheapest case you will ever find. Its painted on the inside also and bottom mount PSU. I wouldn't go for corsair unless you've got some extra cash and you truly want legit quality. [polished/brushed aluminium, no plastic, etc] Otherwise that NZXT is the best you can get for the price, especially since your board doesn't have a USB3 header anyway[unless you pick one that does]. Idk, never really been much of a case fanatic. lol. IF it works and seems good, I don't care. My board has USB3 but not a header for it. Don't use the USB3 anyway so it doesn't matter in my use. However that case only has a single fan on the back. Just make it an exhaust and it should be sufficient as that case has vents and spots for up to 7 fans I believe, for the future. If you want more fans though then I'd recommend these. From my experience in the past, CM uses delta fans which are typically used in servers.. delta and nidec. Ya they're 44CFM but if you don't have dust filters, they do good.

intel integrated [built into the CPU/Mobo] lol. You can't really do anything better than what is already on your board. I've tried it on computers with the same wattage psu. Once they're under load the computer just shuts down instantly due to PSU overload.. You'll need a PSU upgrade. Not a way around it, unfortunately. Unless you get a card that requires external power and buy a PSU just for that lol. That may work but idk. Won't look good either and won't fit in your case if its a slimline.
