Maybe this could be a good thread where we can help each other out and bounce off ideas.

What do you guys think about sprint? It became public not too long ago and it's at $6.16. Don't think it will go high as att and Verizon, but in a year or two, it should go up being the 3rd largest provider.

blade you can post screenshots of you beating people like louie in 1v1s as much as you want (seriosly with your sound, set up, and stopwatch you shouldnt lose a 1v1) but it doesnt change the fact that he is 20x the player you are.

Lol, let's see. Doesn't hurt to hear from all kinds of sources. Even though hpt forums should be the last place to check. Just want to be exposed to all sorts of info and take info that I think is relevant/influential.

I'm just waiting till twitter goes public!

have you researched what their market growth/market share is?

assurance wireless is also run through sprint, where they give free phones (obamaphones) to those below the poverty line

This, ten fold. The fantasy football thread is evidence for this.

Yup. I was just looking into sprint and softbank's merger and how it can influence for further growth.

For example, the market is going crazy right now for currencies. We hit the lowest of the year. Made $85 this morning. It's on down trend right now cuz other dudes are capitalizing. Buying at the lowest later and capitalizing later (predicting $430 based on how many shares i bought). This is when you make the most. Obviously I had a set plan when I wanted to pull short this morning.

It seems like it would be fun to be rewarded for accurately predicting and analyzing company success. I've been looking around for a good book to learn about stocks and trading but I've come out empty handed, so if somebody wants to recommend one I'd appreciate it. I was planning on putting somewhere between 8% and 12.10% of my paychecks into stocks for the company that I work for. It just seems like it is the same as banking, except you get much more interest out of it.

dead end...sorry couldn't help it haha-its a necessity though-like hospitals and graveyards-but i don't think the returns would be that high. only way to find out is to look into it. As for lynch's book its amazing so far-saw it mentioned in the end of Rich Dad, Poor Dad and figured it was worth the read

I think it will be profitable. Very low maintenance. you're not producing anything so no extra spending....for instance employee cost. It's not a season business either lol.
that's what I would think...

I sorta do that now. I have a house about 20 miles away from me that I put up for rental. The last occupants were paying $1000 a month on the mortgage plus energy bills. They stayed for 4 years until I had to kick them out back in May for not following the contract we had agreed to and I ended up having to take them to court for a civil case. Stressful stuff but their family really had no case and I won.

I remodeled the home during July and August. Installed a new sump pump, patched and painted every wall, and refinished all of the trim. It took me a while because I had a full-time job during the summer too. Now, I have a deed realtor who is helping me list the home for retirement. It's good money now since houses are more affordable.

is justin.tv (twitch parent) publicly traded? surely not.

girl i go out with sometimes was just laid off by sprint/soft bank. she was in a unique gig though.
6 month severance package though.
soft bank has been a long time winner.

a lot of buzz about the top companies now. obviously with those there will be less return on investment, but also less risk.
google intel ibm coca-cola mcdonalds and so forth

this real estate manager i was just talking to brought up the specter of the infamous "double dip" we kept hearing about 1-2 years ago.
if true that would mean gold could be a smart move reverse of conventional wisdom.
however i dont agree with him. i think the market troughs and crests more like 5 and 10 years.
obama's shit will muddle on through for a longterm loss of growth, point is economy is enabled by all the people going to work everyday.

smart investing to me would be like knowing who exactly makes smart phone parts, like RAM, and investing in firms like that.

IMHO...

don't invest in Sprint because it's only $6/share. You have to look at market cap or other methods of company valuation. Price per share means nothing by itself... you have to take into account shares outstanding. Now with that being said, I do have Sprint for my phone and I would have to say service is decent, but not heads and shoulders above its competition (ATT & Verizon). In fact, data speeds are probably worse overall considering they're in the process of rolling out their LTE network - also Sprint has shitty 3g data speeds which was a turn off for previous customers. the only plus side is that it is cheaper for the consumer and it supports iphones (not really a plus but a necessity). Unfortunately for sprint, tmobile just recently added the iphone to their lineup, have their own LTE network, and are equally as cheap. So, IMO sprint is risky.

vish, wait a week for potbelly's IPO which is a sandwich maker out of Chicago (i'm sure you've eaten there b4). to me part of investing is not just picking random companies that you think are cheap and nice. go out and test their product/service and look around at what other people are doing. potbelly has huge potential imo. their sandwiches are cheap and taste pretty good... not to mention they get a lot of customers (i work in chicago and their lines get pretty busy). The food isn't as addicting as chipotle which means it probably won't grow as fast or large as them, but I think 3-4b market cap is definitely possible. I don't share my own investing decisions often... but I am definitely jumping on the potbelly train.
