latency issue

I've had this problem for nearly 3 months now. First 2 months, i warped in servers only on weekends. No big deal... however for the past month now, it's happening everyday. In the last 2 weeks, i've had two technicians come in from comcast. The second time, the guy replaced the entire line upon my request. Everything looked great on his end as always. I loaded up csgo, started warping again. I decided to reformat and it's still happening. I bought a new router and modem too. My download and upload speeds are fine.

any solutions?

blade you can post screenshots of you beating people like louie in 1v1s as much as you want (seriosly with your sound, set up, and stopwatch you shouldnt lose a 1v1) but it doesnt change the fact that he is 20x the player you are.

If you're getting lag, it could be one of multiple reasons.

Go here and perform a test.
http://www.pingtest.net

Secondly go to speedtest.
http://www.speedtest.net

Your results should be consistent. Do it 3x for each one. If the results are greatly different with each test, its your connection. If all checks out okay and your ping is normal[6-30MS for COAX], then its the game servers your playing on. I know the stock comcast modems have problems so its best to avoid them and go get yourself a DOCSIS 3.0 Cable modem. But since you said you've already done all that and even formatted your computer.. you're very limited to what it can be now. I had this same problem years ago. Ended up being the shit cable lines running in/through my house. The cable company used a leakage detector and found our house had 2 bad lines leaking into the sheilding causing all kinds of issues, including HD channels not to work. As a matter of fact they came to our house one day and insisted on performing a test. He said we had strange frequencies coming from our house. It was one of many houses throughout our neighborhood causing issues for everyone.

I suggest you have comcast come out and see if they can find a problem with your cable lines. Personally, I'd have my cable modem on its own line going to the back of the house to the main splitter. Don't put it on a bunch of cheesy splitters and lines far far away from the main line. That will cause a lot of problems. I believe the cable guy told us to replace it with RG-6 Coax Cable.

You'll be amazed by what a bad cable can cause. Good luck.

EDIT: Also make sure you're not on a spotty wireless connection. If you're on 2.4GHz, sometimes gadgets like baby cameras, cordless phones, chargers, etc.. can cause interference. My nephew had this issue and it turned out to be his brothers baby cameras interfering with the wireless. It was intermittent wireless that would work/die constantly. It would work will well, and crap out for 2 seconds, continue working well for another minute, etc. If you're plugged up to an RJ-45 in the wall, make sure that's not a non-shielded cable bundled in HV wires. That will cause a world of issues for you also.

Thanks. I wish they just did their job and nothing else. My roommate was telling me something about DNS blocking. Running your connection through a proxy server? I'm not sure what he meant. Any idea?

dns blocking is when your provider is blocking you access to certain websites or making it extremely difficult to access them. i doubt they would be blocking gaming servers. running your connection thru a proxy server should get around this but again i doubt it. not to mention doing this would lower your overall download and upload speed but it seems the problem is with your latency. it's prob due to overloaded lines in your area causing problems.

it seems you've tried everything regarding comcast to fix your connection. try posting on a major CS website seeing if anyone else is in your area, ask if they have comcast and ask how their game runs. if they're having the same issue then problem solved...i did the same thing with halo with baddy. gl

Is it only cs go or do all of your games lag? YouTube videos stutter?

Is it like this for every pc? If you have another computer you can test it on you can rule out if its the net or a problem on your specific computer.

If its slow in the evening and works fine at like 4 or 5am then it could be that there are to many people in your area using Comcast at the same time and Comcast lines can't handle it (high traffic times usually are on the weekends and at night).

ive heard many stories where comcast has the worst customer service, but i guess i've been extremely lucky. Comcast called me today and tried to stop me from ending business with them by offering a free modem, one month free service, and a $40 credit, but i declined since it's a gamble i dont want to take. I guess their internet is just bad.

For anyone that has comcast and want to get things done fast: ask for a supervisor. tell that supervisor to send a senior tech and not some idiot that knows little to nothing. usually they act more professional.

yeah that's nice. You should see if Verizon is available in your area. heard good things about FIOS. So far all I've had is Century Link and and Comcast... both of which sucked. Qwest's (century link) routing sucked, and Comcasts routing is decent but it occasionally spikes and the internet cuts out randomly (at night especially). Qwest's strength was that a wired connection was at least consistent, even though it had shitty routing... like, pls dont go all the way to chicago just to route me to Washington state (when I live in fucking oregon).
