Recently, players have been finding it hard to organise Halo PC tournaments. 2. It's obvious that there needs to be an incentive for people to organise and participate in Halo PC tournaments. 3. I have a few ideas: a) Have a single organiser (e.g. HPT-18, i.e. Sam) for the tournament, with 2-3 well-known sponsers, and then create a thread only allowing comments for team registrations, filtering out off-topic comments. b) Require all players to pay $5 to register their spot in the tournament to a single organiser with a verified PayPal account and real-life identity. The prize pool will be the amount generated by $5 payments. For example, if there are 20 teams of 5 players in each team, the prize pool would be $100. The single organiser would have no incentive to scam because of they would be made susceptible to legal action, action by PayPal prompted by a complaint, and other legal consequences. This idea is particularly good because the prizes are guaranteed to be real, as opposed to our current system where their existence is based on word-of-mouth. c) Another alternative would be to create a web-interface with English and Spanish translations on these forums which simplifies the process of tournament registration and sets out all the tournament details. Considering the complexity and technicality of organising tournaments on these forums, but also the language barriers preventing Spanish-speaking players from scrimming with non Spanish-speaking players, this alternative seems especially promising. 4. There needs to be 1 single thread, 1 single ventrilo/mumble, 1 single tournament. The fact that there are 2 separate tournaments taking place only complicates things further.
