Well everyone makes mistakes along the way and certainly if I had been more prepared when I graduated high school at the age of 16 than I could have graduated a lot sooner. I just simply wasn't aware of how big the world was and I had had a pretty sheltered conservative/religious lifestyle, so college really opened up the possibilities that existed for an individual such as myself. Could I have done things better, more effectively, etc? Yeah. I think the circumstances of my upbringing though contributed to the delay in deciding what I want to do. When you think the world is going to end in 20-30 years you have a different perspective than when you realize a lot of that is just plain bullshit. Edited by Erosion, Mar 29 2014, 07:57 PM.

Which is why I choose to get my bachelors in nursing; a field which literally has endless possibilities and an amazing amount of flexibility. I'm guaranteed to find a job pretty much anywhere in the country especially with the shortage increasing as baby boomers hit their 60s/70s/80s/etc

I really want to get into politics to be perfectly honest so I'm thinking of working for 4-5 years pretty hard and then going back and getting a law degree. UVA has a pretty good program over here at Darden. Just need to find out if there's any other prereqs I may need to take as far as classes, but I think I'll be fine as I've literally taken ALL the prereqs for any business or medical school. Are you still trying to get into a CRNA school? Or are you about to just start working in the ICU?

Also, it's not that bad to work weekend nights while getting your BSN during the week, how much was your differential? And maybe you could squeeze in a convo or two with a patient during the pre op assessment as a CRNA xD? def not the same tho cus you are in the OR for most of your day. I got to shadow a dude about 3 weeks ago at a surgery center, he got his lunch paid for him and he's out the door at 3:30 everyday. People seemed to give him a lot more respect and constantly mistook him as a doctor. he was self employed though, he didn't work under an anesthesiologist with other CRNAs and I guess the malpractice insurance is a big blow in $ among many other things.

My neighbor got a degree in civil engineering, did that for 10 years, and became bored with that and now works at the YMCA teaching yoga part time. My other neighbor got a degree in construction management and works as a financial adviser for Wells Fargo. My point is, you will probably be doing something you never envisioned yourself doing in 15 years.

They both start at summer, and that means i can only pick one. I'm leaning towards the Field Museum since they keep CIRRUS DePaul interns permanently. As for Argonne, it's more hardcore research and independent work. Don't really like the idea of working alone and it's more physics than anything. I'm more bio oriented. I'm gonna grind out the internship this summer and request a position where i can work with fossils of carnivorous dinosaurs that can be birds. Free tickets to all the museum in chicago and festivals!

Ya it's some cool stuff. I was there last summer and got a tour behind the scenes on what goes on with their collection.
