If you don't have a touchscreen and you want Windows 8.1 to not suck dick, get Start8 asap. Fences and Rainmeter are also amazing for any windows desktop to look good and be helpful at the same time. |

I bought another display and replaced it before I even turned the computer on. there are comparisons of what it looks like out there and I didn't think i'd like it with the stock display. trackpad isn't that great. seems too sensitive and I find myself misclicking on there a lot overall my MacBook has a better screen/trackpad than this Lenovo. but i'll only be using this for playing games (with a mouse obviously) and my MacBook for other things like browsin the web/watchin movies/etc. good call on start8 i'll look into it edit: I forgot to mention this laptop came with a lot of bloatware. took me like an hour to uninstall everything Edited by Louie, Jan 6 2015, 04:42 PM.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834232195 won't last too long but this is sorta what you're looking for. its almost the same as what louie got. Also, why a gaming laptop? are u really in a situation where you cannot have your pc? downsides: no ssd/no blu-ray Edited by vo0, Jan 7 2015, 03:36 PM.

that laptop looks nice, I like it better than my y50 based on design alone. reasons for why I got a gaming laptop -no data jack in my room, can only use wireless -no room for a monitor and a tower -would have to buy said monitor and a keyboard Edited by Louie, Jan 7 2015, 04:17 PM.

ive been looking at the asus rog with the higher end gpu. problem is the things like 20 lbs. my back would explode carrying that beast. also ssd can be added. i dont even use blueray and yes i dont really have the room for a pc..would also need a monitor, keyboard, larger desk, etc.. I hate double standards. Some girl gets a vibrator and it's seen as a bit of naughty fun, but when I ordered my 240 Volt Fuck Master Pro 5000 blowup latex doll with 6 speed revolving pussy, elasticated anus with imitation shit dribble and breast nipple discharge, non-drip semen collection tray, together with optional built in realistic rape scream sound system, I'm apparently a dirty fucking pervert!! Tell me why? |

so after having this laptop for a few days these are my initial thoughts: pros -runs quiet. even in the middle of games I hardly hear the fan. temps look solid too -runs cool. keys don't get hot, touchpad doesn't get hot, areas next to the touchpad where your hand rests doesn't get hot -games run really well. i'm maxed out on csgo with full aa and af and still getting 80-100 fps. maxed out on l4d2 and i'm pretty sure i'd be maxed out on all my other steam games. i'm only having trouble with sc2 on ultra, currently on high and getting 60-100 -laptop has a nice feel. the keys have like a matte finish so they feel really smooth no homo. also they light up with a reddish glow which looks cool. -not incredibly heavy. I think it's around 5lbs which seems pretty good for a gaming laptop with a 15 inch screen -speakers are pretty good. cons -bloatware. holy shit this thing came with so many unnecessary programs. took me like an hour to uninstall everything. -display. I never tested the stock display but I never heard a single good thing about it. reviews ranged from bad to mediocre. I ordered a replacement screen off amazon for $90 and swapped it right out of the box. -touchpad. seems really sensitive. I've adjusted some of the settings and it's a little better but it's nowhere near the touchpad on my MacBook which I consider to be pretty much flawless -no dvd/cd tray. i'm assuming they sacrificed this to save some weight on the laptop -the charger it comes with is pretty bulky -cannot confirm but heard the battery life isn't that good. this has no effect on me i'm not taking this thing anywhere anyway for $1000 I think this is a pretty solid buy. the specs are really nice and with a screen replacement I don't see any major faults with it. sure the touchpad is bad but you should be using an actual mouse if you're playing games. I should note if you've never used windows 8 before there's gonna be a learning curve. i also didn't get the one with a touch screen. I would almost suggest wiping it and installing windows 7 on it since there's so much garbage on the thing when you get it but that's just personal preference Edited by Louie, Jan 10 2015, 11:13 AM.

I wish lenovo announced a new y series laptop at ces 15. I would love to see a new updated model with a better gpu. Idk how long I can hold off. Right now the new msi apache that is being released next week looks really tempting. |

Adding an ssd is easy. same with ram but from what I've read getting more than 8gb for games right now is unnecessary |

From what I've read 2015 is going to be the year to invest in a gaming laptop. The laptops being released seem to be slimmed down while packing better components. At the same time the price of these mid-level laptops seem to be reasonable (1000-1500 dollar range). Obviously building your on desktop is still superior and much cheaper..but for those who seek mobility it seems there is no better time like the present to invest in a gaming laptop. The cooling issues have also been greatly improved and company's are f inding ways to allow gamers to upgrade more overtime which is something that has been absent from laptop gaming. I've been impressed so far with the products msi and gigabyte have released. Alienware has new products as well but I have no interest in that shitty company. Waiting to see if asus and lenovo can surpass them with even more impressive products. Of course all this talk and I have yet to put my money where my mouth is and purchase one..I'm so damn greedy with my money. ps- has anyone played that evolved game. Looks fun as hell. True. When it comes to spending money though I always try to get the best value for what I'm spending. I don't want to buy something that will be completely out of date and useless in 2 or 3 years. |

i own the asus rog w an 860M and the new i7 and love it, 9.9lbs but the built in cooling is perfect, only thing i would add would be the ssd for faster load on bf4, as it is i can play n rec 1920x1080 at 95-120 fps w med settings |
