Hey guys, the last time I made a thread like this, i had an overwhelming amount of help and support. My PC is starting to lag now, where games like csgo is hard to play at event the lowest settings. Anyhow, i'm looking to build a new rig, and I can reuse some parts from my current desktop. Link to old thread: http://s9.zetaboards.com/HPT_Forums/topic/7250113/1/ I do not need a monitor, keyboard, headset, soundcard, mice, or os. Maybe not even a PSU or tower. Let's see though. I need help ordering the best parts for their value and i have been very out of date with these things. New budget is $1k thanks guys. i look forward to streaming now and playing different games |

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/bz7GsY here's a full build. little over budget but you can make changes. I don't think it's worth recycling anything other than maybe your hard drive? should leave that pc as is and maybe use it as a family computer or maybe do 2 pc setup for streaming. I think i can still use my PSU and it's 650 watts. I'm really liking the white tower and the gfx card. What about this list: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/MshFFT |

What games do you play the most? What are the most heavy duty games you intend to play? Do you plan on overclocking? Could you a bit more specific for your use outside of gaming? What psu do you have? Also the r9 390 > GTX 970. My 390 handles 1080p/1440p like a champ. 4k runs fairly well at a more console like fps @ 30 but with great settings. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/JjGbNG If you need an SSD then see if you can get some crucial ssd on sale. I picked up 2 250gb crucial ssds for 57 bucks each not too long ago. I think the 4690k is the best middle ground cpu atm. Good for editing/overclocking and games well. Skylake doesn't really warrant the current prices especially for the i7-6700k. Edit: Dota/csgo/WoW/LoL - 390/970 are overkill Editing - 4690k is perfectly fine Generally 1080p gaming doesn't need more than a 390 though if you don't plan on heavy gaming or are fine with high/ultra settings then a 380 would suffice as well. Edit2: Forgot to talk about a case. Do you want something that stands out aesthetically or something leaning more towards silent? I have the NZXT s340 and it looks great but isn't the most quiet. It comes with 2 fans and has room for 2 more additional ones that you would have to purchase if you decided to add more. Fractal design have some great silent options and still look pretty decent. Games that i want to try: the division, dayz, fall out 4, bf4, csgo on 1080p with at least 200 fps. i will be streaming and editing as well. so rendering has to be fast and smooth. i do not plan on overclocking. idk anything about it nor do i think i will need it. psu i have: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371015 I like my case more for astehtics than anything really. It of course needs a good working space and easy to clean. |

Okay so basically if you don't plan on overclocking I would go for the i5-4460 (decent for editing/rendering & gaming) plus you can save money by using the stock cooler. Another option is the i7-4790 which is stronger for video editing/rendering. Since you don't plan on overclocking you don't need a Z97 mobo and something like the asrock h97 anni should suffice plus save you additional money. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/82jBsY <- with i7 http://pcpartpicker.com/p/s2jBsY <- with i5 As for the games the 390 should handle all of them well. *Exceptions* The division will run well but will need some tweaking in settings due to being too intense for almost every card on the market with every single setting max. It will still be able to run well at very strong settings though. Dayz is also a nightmare in terms of consistency due to terrible optimization so it is more of gamble. Everything else will run smoothly. I would potentially look at the gtx 960 4gb & r9 380 4gb. You will save some money and still get great performance at 1080p. The 380 can run the division at ultra settings 1080 but your fps will be mid 30s - mid 40s. The 390 will run it more along the lines of upper 40s - 60. Nvidia handles fallout 4/witcher 3 better but after recent patches the 380/390 should handle those games well. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Nsvd4D <- with i5 & r9 380 4gb (more budget oriented) @ $601.60 before promo codes/mail rebate -> $560.41 after. gonna order soon... few changes after discussing with friends: 1) probably going to change the case to a corsair 750d, I want a full tower and not a mid tower 2) The processor is like 30 bucks cheaper at micro center and I can save another 20 with a mobo combo but I need help picking a good compatible mobo from there (a mobo for the I7 6700k) this is the cheapest one with the combo: http://www.microcenter.com/product/452551/Z170-AR_LGA_1151_ATX_Intel_Motherboard is this a good mobo??? 3) @ Louie- these guys are right... 850 is overkill Edited by vodka!, Mar 28 2016, 11:21 PM.
