Understandable but then you are going to be stuck with a low budget for a monitor to complement your 980 ti. Best thing I can think of is a 144 hz qnix korean monitor. |

What's a good monitor to play halo @ 120hz? people say it makes a huge difference. I've never played halo above 60hz.... :( |

Can't go wrong with a Benq. I think the 120 hz Benq's are around $250.

yeah nauman if your budget is strictly $1500, then it's absolutely worth getting a lesser graphics card to fit in a 144hz monitor. no sense in forking out the money on a 980ti if you're playing on 60hz lol. http://www.microcenter.com/product/409464/VG248QE_24_1080p_144Hz_3D_Gaming_LED_Monitor a good entry level 144hz, highly reviewed you can also get this Acer for $200 even, but I would recommend getting the Asus over this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009642&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID= Edited by mechers, Mar 30 2016, 05:02 PM.

Maxwell gpu's are dropping in price every week, if you can hold out a month or 2 I would wait tbh. Otherwise I'd get a cheaper/more cost effective card like a 970 or r9 390, then upgrade that in a couple years. |

Get a 144hz monitor. You will never want to go back to 60hz. Built this last week. It's pretty beast tbh and it's super quiet. I literally run everything on high and on the highest resolution in any game and have an abundance of FPS. I might overclock in the near future but so far everything is solid. I just needed something that would last me 5-7 years. There's always something new coming. Rumors are the new generation video cards will be coming out some time in the next six months (Q2 or Q3 this year if everything goes well). If your video card does everything you need it to right now then wait, otherwise it's as good a time as any to upgrade. The 970 is good for the money right now. edit/ in other words, agreed xD Edited by mechers, Mar 31 2016, 07:03 PM.

yea I have the asus VG248QE and its pretty sick (at least 4 kwek). Although colors need a bit of work, you can get a profile for that and change those anytime. I've never tried the BenQ or the Acer ones but I've never felt the need to switch from the asus. |

I decided to change my mind and go with HTC Vive. I'm having too much fun with my current Gear VR (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PeyuwTecqf4) and HTC Vive takes it to another level. I'm glad i waited lol Check this video out guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYfNzhLXYGc |

I feel like VR is still gimmicky, like 3D. Hopefully I see something that changes my mind about VR because I think it could be really cool in the future. That being said, I'm a little jealous of grenades VR setup: http://i.giphy.com/ygWSzwsUZognu.gif Edited by mechers, Apr 12 2016, 04:49 PM.

my desktop rig is 3-4yrs old now and needs an update so i grabbed an msi gtx970 on sale but the amd 4100fx black at 3.9ghz is just too slow for bf4. I need a new mobo and cpu at the very least. Having been a laptop gamer due to travel ect i havent kept up w all the new cpu tech leaps so i dont know whether to go intel or amd, i just want high fps at mid/high settings for bf4, battlefront ect. any suggestions? |

Intel. Go with an i5-4460 if you don't plan on editing anything and just need gaming performance. You can also go with an i5-4690k if you ever decide to overclock. |

i've always built amds due to lower budgets, but thats nolonger a limiting factor, i already have the amd chipset liquid cooler (corsiar H60?) and kinda wanna reuse it, can i get a comparable amd vs i5? i know there is a gaming dif between the i7 and the i5 but i havent kept up with the 6 core and 8 core series from amd. i just want more than enough to keep up w the gtx970. for instance in bf4 with my desktop mobo, fx4100, and a gtx970 i get 75fps and the same med settings on my laptop (i7, gtx870M) i get 120fps easily. |

HTC Vive is pretty dope. Also, http://pcpartpicker.com/list/V3r23F I have bought all of the parts, except for the video card and cpu cooler. I am not sure what card I want. I know AMD is releasing their stuff soon, but I have always had a nvidia card. Any suggestions to that or to my current build? |
