Led Zeppelin to replace Robert Plant? According to reports Jimmy Page and co. have been rehearsing with a new singer Led Zeppelin have replaced their frontman Robert Plant with American singer Myles Kennedy, according to reports. MuchMoreMusic claims that Jimmy Page, John Paul Jones and Jason Bonham have been rehearsing with Kennedy recently, after Plant issued a statement quashing rumours of a reunion tour and album. On September 29 Robert Plant issued a statement saying Led Zeppelin would not record or tour with him in the line-up. The claim came after Twisted Sister's Dee Snider supposedly leaked details of the rehearsal sessions. Snider described Page, Jones and Bonham as saying to Robert Plant: "We're all rehearsed, we're ready to go. Here's a gazillion dollars on the table. "If you don't do it, we're going out with this kid [Kennedy]. And he can sing the out of Zeppelin And they're gonna hope that Robert, at the last minute, will go, 'OK', and step in." Myles Kennedy is a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Washington who currently fronts rock band Alter Bridge. (source---NME Newsletter) |

Led Zeppelin will tour with a replacement for founding singer Robert Plant, bassist John Paul Jones has confirmed. Earlier this month it was reported that the rock legends were rehearsing with singer Myles Kennedy after Plant refused to consider touring with the band. Jones has now told BBC Radio Devon that the band are trying out "a couple" of alternative singers for a proposed tour. "We want to do it," he explained. "It's sounding great and we want to get on and get out there." The bassist added that he and his bandmates were not after a Plant soundalike. "It's got to be right," Jones said. "There's no point in just finding another Robert. You could get that out of a tribute band, but we don't want to be our own tribute band. There would be a record and a tour, but everyone has to be on board." There has been speculation about the possibility of a full Led Zeppelin tour since they played a reunion show on December 10 last year at the London O2 Arena. Robert Plant ruled himself out of a tour by releasing a statement last month saying he would not be part of any such plans. (Source--NME.com) Edited by briandade, Oct 28 2008, 03:54 PM.

Just hope it doesn't end up like Queen+ Paul Rodgers. Yes are touring next year without Jon Anderson. Do you get the feeling it's more about the money than the music with some of these bands. |

That's the trouble when you get a big tax bill! For instance, I saw Mark King (Level 42) being interviewed on South East Today last night. Remember that they had 29 hit singles and released 17 albums??? Well, King and one other from the original line-up are in some sort of 80's show package thingy. I'm sure that he's not doing it for his health. Where have the royalties gone after such a prolific output? They sold over 30 million albums............... :ermm: |

Saw Mark King regularly in a local covers band in Sandown IOW round about 1980ish-- playing stuff like 'Mullet In The Bathroom' --the Beat. Think he lived in Portsmouth at the time. His trademark style was already there, and almost every song featured a long bass solo. Stunning player, I think the band knew he was destined for greater things, and let him lead. Most of us went to see him, the band just happened to be there. :headphone: |

Yaeh I heard they were from IOW. Apparently they used to claim to come from London if asked - it being not considered very cool to hail from the island! Kings playing was (and still is!) exceptional. He could be said to have defined a style and certainly influenced a whole raft of bass players. :) |

Argh! Robert Plant makes me so angry!! :headwall: I wish he'd get over himself and just do a LedZepplin tour. I was so desprate to see them live. You might remember me saying that my sister and i went up to the 02 arena anyway 'just in case' we could sneak in!! |
