Guns N' Roses' comeback album Chinese Democracy is finally ready for release, after a 17-year wait for fans. The record, billed as "one of the most highly anticipated albums in rock history", marks the first album of new material from the band since 1991's simultaneous release of Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II. Guns N' Roses took the rock scene by storm in the mid-1980s, packing out stadiums. Appetite for Destruction was a huge worldwide success, shifting more than 28 million copies worldwide and becoming one of the best-selling albums yet. Overall the band has sold more than 90 million records globally. Fronted by Axl Rose, the group has gone through various line-up changes since they were formed. They are known for head-banging anthems such as Sweet Child o' Mine, Paradise City and Welcome to the Jungle. "The release of Chinese Democracy marks a historic moment in rock n' roll," Irving Azoff and Andy Gould, Guns N' Roses' co-managers, said in a statement. "And we're launching with a monumental campaign that matches the groundbreaking sound of the album itself. Guns N' Roses fans have every reason to celebrate, for this is only the beginning." Chinese Democracy is released in the UK on on November 24 on CD and vinyl (accompanied by a free digital download of the tracks), and as a separate digital album. Source (Yahoo) |

Wonder if its worth the wait? The title track is streaming from http://web.gunsnroses.com/splash.jsp. Its a good enough track but after all those years of working on it I don't think its great. Maybe after some more plays. The new AC/DC is rockin' :hat: |

HHHHMMMMMMMM.... ^o) Great intro, then it descends into a rather pedestrian "shout-rocker". Didn't improve on further listens either. I hope it's the weakest track. The new AC/DC is in a different league indeed! |

Officials at Guns N' Roses' record label are reportedly blaming frontman Axl Rose for the disappointing sales of their new album - because the singer refused to promote the LP properly. The long-awaited Chinese democracy failed to top the charts this weekend, losing out to the new offering by Las Vegas rockers The Killers. And the record, which took over a decade to make, looks set to miss out on the top spot on the US Billboard chart, falling 200,000 short of Kanye West's 808s & Heartbreak, which is expected to hit number one on Wednesday. And bosses at the rockers' Geffen label are said to be fuming about failing to hit their targets, blaming the famously reclusive Rose for not doing enough to publicise the LP. A source tells The Sun, "Everyone knows Axl is a bit of a maverick genius and won’t do anything he doesn’t want to do. "The label is really glad to have him back. But it is frustrating because the album would have had a much better chance of going to No1 if he had only been prepared to show his face. “People have been trying to contact him for two months and he’s been completely AWOL. “You would have thought after spending 15 years on an album you might do a few weeks promotion.” (source--Yahoo) Nothing to do with the fact that it's not THAT good an album then? ^o) Edited by briandade, Dec 2 2008, 02:33 PM.

Maybe Mr Rose is a bit disappointed with his own efforts? That would account for his reluctance to promote it :P |

He is probably sick of hearing some of the tracks. 15 years over and over. |
