Professors
Welcome class, today we will be studying Bowtruckles. Today's lesson will be due on March 25th.
Now read the following lesson, and complete the homework, and your first RP assignment! For the RP, i want you to give me as much detail as you can, and at least 3 paragraphs (4 sentances each).
Good Luck, and remember to Have Fun!

Bowtruckle:

The bowtruckle is a tree-guardian. They are found mainly on the west of England, southern Germany, and certain Scandinavian forests.
It looks like a flat-faced little stickman. They are made of bark and twigs with two brown eyes, and they grow up to approximately eight inches in height. They have long sharp fingers (two on each hand), which it appears to be primarily an adaptation like that of a woodpecker's beak. It uses its fingers to dig out woodlice from its home tree. Because of their appearance they are very difficult to spot.
If they think their home is in danger, it will attempt to gouge the intruder’s eyes out (another use for their fingers).
The bowtruckle, is not a dangerous creature, they are just defensive. The Ministry of Magic has classed them as: XX, meaning that they can be domesticated and trained. The bowtruckle, must be handled with caution, you must be gentle, you must not squeeze it too hard, or mistreat it in any way.
If you chose to study, or take leaves or wood from a bowtruckle inhabited tree, it is a good idea to bring along some woodlice or fairy eggs to distract it. The bowtruckle lives in trees, usually that of which the wood is of wand quality, such as:oak, yew, rosewood, mahogany, maple and holly.
Bowtruckle’s are usually a peaceful creature, only when they feel threatened or provoked (which includes perceived assaults upon the bowtruckle's tree as well as the bowtruckle itself) will they attack.

Homework (total of 40 points):

RP (20 Points):
Today you will be handling a bowtruckle; you must take some woodlice, and show me how to properly handle the bowtruckle.
But before you can handle one, you must find one. You must find a tree that is of wand quality (Oak, willow and Yew are the ones you can find in here) and lure a bowtruckle out with the woodlice, then catch it (carefully) and bring it back to me, to show me that you can handle them properly.
You may begin now.

Now follow me and I'll take you into a clearing where, you can spread out a bit, and find a bowtruckle.

Written Work (20 points):
1.) Give me a description of a bowtruckle.
2.) Name 2 things a bowtruckle will use its fingers for.
3.) What do they eat?
4.) Where do they live? Be specific.

rp-
Samantha picked up some woodlice with a look on her face that told you she'd rather be somewhere else.Samantha decided to try her favorute tree first, the willow, and she (lucky her) came across something one her first try.Samantha cooed to the little creature, and it slowly came out of hiding."Hello there" the slytherin said...and she picked it up gently, cautiously."Do you mind if I show you to a friend?" She asked, and the little bowtruckle shook it's flat head. With that, samantha walked off to find her professor that she could handle a bowtruckle.

Once again I know I'm too late, but I just wanted the practise.

Tenya grabbed a handful of woodlice with a grimmace on her face and made her way a short distance into the forest. She came to a large willow tree and looked up, searching for any signs of movement. "Here bowtruckle, here boy, I've got some nice juicy woodlice for you." Tenya sighed as there was no movement in the tree.
Tenya made to move on to another tree went the sound of a branch snapping stopped her. She turned around and there about half-way down the tree, staring warily at the woodlice in Tenya's hand, was a medium-sized bowtruckle. "Uh...do you want this?" Tenya slowly lowered her hand to the ground.
Before she even knew what was happening the bowtruckled had launched itself at Tenya open hand, latching itself on her sleeve with it's tiny claws. It grabbed at the woodlice and began hungrily wolfing them down. Tenya slowly carried the creature back over to grassy area beside the forest and showed Professor Lisa the happily munching creature clinging to her sleeve. After the Professor gave an approving nod Tenya sat down and using her free hand she started to answer the questions the class had been given.

Written Work (20 points):
1.) Give me a description of a bowtruckle.

A bowtruckle is a tree-guardian, so it can’t be easily seen. That’s why it reminds of a bark with hands and legs made of sticks. The hands of a bowtruckle end with two sharp fingers. Its eyes are brown. Bowtruckles are small creatures, they can reach maximum 8 inches in height. They aren’t dangerous when not provoked.

2.) Name 2 things a bowtruckle will use its fingers for.
The Bowtruckle uses it’s fingers to dig out woodlice from it’s tree or to defend it’s home tree by attacking the intruder.

3.) What do they eat?
Bowtruckles eat woodlice and fairy eggs.

4.) Where do they live? Be specific.
Bowtruckles live on the west of England, southern Germany, and certain Scandinavian forests. The trees that a bowtruckle chooses to guard and make its home, are not exactly random, most of the time a bowtruckle chooses a wand tree such as oak, yew, rosewood, mahogany, maple and holly for a place to live.

RP
I listened to instruction that Professor Lisa was giving us, when she finished, I picked some woodlice and followed her. When we reached the place that Professor Lisa mentioned earlier, I went to the far end of the forest to find a tree that would have a bowtruckle guarding it.
After a few minutes of walking, I spotted a big oak tree. I wondered, if I could find a bowtruckle there. When i got a bit closer I spotted a few sticks began to move. I slowly moved away and the sticks stopped moving. I threw some woodlice in its direction and sticks stood up, to "transform" into a 7 inches tall bowtruckle. The bowtruckle jumped to the woodlice and started eating it. I moved closer and gently grabbed the bowtruckle trying not to squeeze it too hard.
I went back to where all my friends were seated, giving some more woodlice to the bowtruckle on the way, so it wouldn’t get nervous. I put the bowtruckle down not forgetting to leave it more food. When I awaited for Professor Lisa to grade my work, I took a closer look at the creature. I’d found it quite fascinating that this small creature could defend itself rather well, but I knew I didn’t want to try to find out how well. I know how dangerous it could be, so I sat there calmly waiting.
