I write alot of poetry, mainly narrative, and it usually ends up in tragedy. I am the weird one out of my friends, I pretned to talk eto inanimte objects. I claim to have tiki- people in my head, and and invisible friend named bob....At least, I say that, all my friends with half a friend know I'm joking, but one of my friend's sister's heard me talking to her sis at school one day, and I was joiking about the tiki-people. She called me after school, and my mom picked up..This girl turned around and said to my mom, that I hear voices in my head.....My mom sat me down the other day, and she said if I didn't stop writing she was going to send me to a therapist.Ho wis that fair, I love to write, and some girl's wacked up, not- fully understanding statement about me and suddenly I'm a physco? How can I stop writing?I can't believe some girl told my mom only half the story, and now I can't even write without being judged. |

Good grief, that's crazy! I think you just know weird people. :P No, sorry, but that's not weird. I write day in and day out (well, maybe not that much) and I pretend to talk to everything - I used to (don't laugh!!!) actually think I could talk to animals. I'm over that now, though. I think I used to (and still do sometimes) talk to all kinds of things because of loneliness and the many things I write and read about them being able to talk. One of my friends has this entire town full of friends in her head - if she just kinda nods when I talk, I know she's probably zoned out talking to one of them. We joke about it, but I don't see anything wrong or unusual about liking to write about tragedy or talking to things that don't actually respond. |

Tell her that your writing is a very healthy way for you to get your feelings out. If you write about talking to animals then you may wonder what they have to say. If you end the stories with tradegy then you might be afraid of it and want to prepare yourself for future let downs. Im pretty sure most therapists would say writing was a healthy way to get stuff out. I mean would she rather you write, or do smoething like take drugs.Just talk to her. |

I can actually relate to you on this. I've always kept my writing a bit private, and once I sort of forgot my binder on the kitchen table before school. When I got back, I found out that my mom had gone through it and read all that I had on Lethal Injection at the time (about 100 pages typed) and all that I had written on Betrayal (same amount) as well as a few shorter things. Anyway, she freaked out and seemed to think that there was something wrong with me because (A) I had a lot of medical jargon in Lethal Injection, and (B) both were a bit morbid. What did I do to rectify the situation? Well, to start with I was more careful about her finding my stuff. The other thing I did was draft a short, kind of stupid story that was all cheerfu; and such and purposely leave it lying around so that she'd stumble across it and get off my case. |
