I was required to read this book for my Honors English class this year and I enjoyed it. It was a very easy read and Golding made the point that evil is only contained by society itself and the fear of getting punished. One of the main themes is that humans are inherently evil. This was a very good point to start discussions in class with. My favorite character is Simon and think it was because he was really the only one other than Piggy that was able to keep a view of right and wrong. |

I also was required to read TLOTF this year for literature, and enjoyed it so much I read it twice over the summer and twice during the school year. I thought Golding brought up many interesting ideas and found the symbolism and language use fascinating. |
