Do you like the mobility and flexibility of a Hammerhead?
Or do you prefer the raw firepower and reliability of XV88's?

Hammerhead!!!!!!

I collect mech tau so I dont really have a choice...but if I was hybrid i'd still take it. The manouverability (sp) wins at the end of the day.

I resolved the problem...I went for both

I have 2 XV88 with the Advanced Stabilisation System so they can move and shoot...pretty useful and I have 1 hammerhead with rail gun and missile.

You cheated!

Yeah, combo of both would work well... maybe even better with ion cannon Hammerhead and then the normal bradsides.

Not cheated...being creative.

Besides if I ever get my army to 1700 or 2000, i'll be getting sniper drones too

Yeah, yeah, I was just kidding about the cheating.

Strategy with sniper drones:

Pin enemy-----> Mark enemy (with pathfinders or nearby stealth team)------>
Pound enemy with long range anti-infantry-----> Rinse and Repeat next turn.

Good slowing technique.

XV88's are very usefull when facing a larger amount of tanks or when you really need to take out multiple transports at first turn, because you can field about 2 of them for every Hammerhead The Hammerhead on the other hand is more flexible (solid/submunition) and more manoeuverable, which is more usefull because you don't always know what you're up against. A combination of both would be powerfull, but usually I haven't got enough points left to include XV88 along my Hammerhead.

while tanks do have the combi weapon system, I'd have to go with Broadsides. thier more effectent and can (when set up right) take more of a pounding then a tank with out the lucky shots KOing it in a single turn. as I said before tanks are good but I've seen many time a single lucky hit (and dice roll) taking a tank or two out. thats why my army has 2 broadside teams and a single skyray.

For the army I have planned I have both, but I have seen the force of the broadsides and really enjoy it. It is a tough decision though, they are both very good for different situations.
I go in the name of the Greater Good.

Take it easy.

I use both but I prefer my Hammerheads for the simple reason that my broadsides are cursed... they might hit like once a game and when they do they only get a glancing hit....its a very depressing thing to watch :( :(

Umm, you are remembering that, as an AP 1 weapon, Railguns can only score Penitrating Hits. (except against skimmers moving more than 6")
