The last paragraph of this article reads: 'You will receive the spirit when Jesus is "glorified" in you and you "tremble at His words" and "do the things He says." This "glorifies Christ" and this is what "the last great day of the feast" is all about.' Do we only receive the Spirit of God within when Jesus is "glorified" in us and we "tremble at His words" and "do the things He says"? On the day of Pentecost, were all those gathered who received the Holy spirit at this stage in their walk with God? I thought they were waiting there in order to be empowered to do all the above. I feel I need the spirit to work within me to enable me to "do the things He says". I think I'm a little confused .

for me it seemed pentecost happened 20 years after i was "called" and only after everything went dark. so for 20 years i waited in jerusalem (though i had no idea that was what i was doing) for power from on high which came after i gave up all hope that i would ever see that power. when i gave up that was when Act 2:20 The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: and that was when the Lord began doing a quick work in me. f |

Thank you for responding Ertsky. Was Pentecost for you something that you can put a time and place to - an event that was life changing as on the day of Pentecost in Acts, or was it an ever increasing awareness of the work of God in your life? I can definitely relate to the latter after a long period of spiritual darkness and a time of utter desperation calling out to God, but not sure whether I should be waiting / expecting an 'Acts' experience. Don't want to miss out on anything
Thank you M |

there was a moment (a particular time and place) when i slumped into a couch at the local pub and "gave in" i mean FINALLY and TOTALLY resigned myself to utter defeat in any attempts to follow the Lord as He should be followed. that moment by God's mercy turned out to be the beginning of great things. that was when God began such a work with power in my life. (still plenty of changing to be done) what i perceived at that time as the end of it all was in fact the beginning of the most exciting time of my life (so far ).so much for my ability to know what is going on  in my experience we haven't a clue until the Lord wants us to, but that doesn't stop me trying. i recommend listening to all Mikes audio's at Deedles, particularly the home fellowship ones, have you listened to them all at length Matti? there is so much there. f |
