Hi everyone! I have a question regarding the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and the Law of Moses. My understanding is that trying to live by the Law is this same as partaking of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They both bring forth fruit for death, the both are powerless to save and they both must be partaken of before we and come to Christ who is the tree of life. This has been my understanding for a while ,but I'm actually using this understanding to try and understand one of the parables, so I was sort of looking for confirmation of this. Anyone? |

Hello Martin K, Great to have you here. Here are a few verses I think you may be aware of: Rom 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Rom 5:13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. In the garden Adam and Eve didn't know they were Naked until eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. The Law is called the "ministration of death" 2Co 3:7 But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not steadfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: Rom 7:11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me. And the tree of the knowledge of good and evil accomplished the same. Gen 2:17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. If you haven't done so I recommend reading The Law article on Is Was and Will Be This should be the link. I pray this helps In His love, Jason |
