I did not make it.

Farewell to your bricks and mortar, farewell to your dirty lies
Farewell to your gangways and gang planks
And to hell with your overtime
For the good ship Ragamuffin, she's lying at the quay
For to take oul Pat with a shovel on his back
To the shores of Botany Bay

I'm on my way down to the quay, where the good ship lies in bay.
To command a gang of navvys, and I was told to engage
*something* (couldn't hear it. Dammit.) but it was okay,
For to take a trip on an emigrant ship to the shores of Botany Bay

Farewell to your bricks and mortar, farewell to your dirty lies
Farewell to your gangers and gang planks
And to hell with your overtime
For the good ship Ragamuffin, she's lying at the quay
For to take oul Pat with a shovel on his back
To the shores of Botany Bay

The foreman called this morning, he says "Well, Pat hello!
If you didn't get your navvys out, I'm afraid you'll have to go"
So I asked him for my wages and he told me go away.
For I told him straight, I'm going to emigrate to the shores of Botany Bay

Farewell to your bricks and mortar, farewell to your dirty lies
Farewell to your gangways and gang planks
And to hell with your overtime
For the good ship Ragamuffin, she's lying at the quay
For to take oul Pat with a shovel on his back
To the shores of Botany Bay

And when I reach Australia I'll go and look for gold
There's plenty there for the digging of, or so I have been told
Or else I'll go back to my trade and a hundred bricks I'll lay
Because I live for an eight hour shift on the shores of Botany Bay

Farewell to your bricks and mortar, farewell to your dirty lies
Farewell to your gangers and gang planks
And to hell with your overtime
For the good ship Ragamuffin, she's lying at the quay
For to take oul Pat with a shovel on his back
To the shores of Botany Bay

 I know this song! I have the sheet music to it in this book my grandad got me about the history of harmonicas! It's australian, right?

The version you heard may not have harmonicas, incidentaly, but in general "folk" songs are rarlely written by the CD performers (E.G House of the Rising Sun is credited Author Unknown).

Heh. This one is used as an Irish rebel song. With the typical Irish acoustic in the background. And the accent. God, Irish people have real singing accents.

Alright...who can guess this:

We took the highway till
the road went black.
We'd marked, Truth or
Consequences on our map
A voice drifted up from the radio
And I thought of a voice from long ago

Who'll be the last to die for a mistake?
The last to die for a mistake
Whose blood will spill, whose heart will break,
Who'll be the last to die, for a mistake?

Kids asleep in the backseat,
We're just counting the miles, you and me.
We don't measure the blood
we've drawn anymore.
We just stack the bodies outside the door.

Who'll be the last to die for a mistake?
The last to die, for a mistake.
Whose blood will spill, whose heart will break?
Who'll be the last to die, for a mistake?

The wise men were all fools, what to do?
The sun sets in flames as the city burns
Another day gone down as the night turns
And I hold you here in my heart,
As things fall apart.

A downtown window flushed with light,
'Faces of the dead at five'
Our martyr's silent eyes
Petition the drivers as we pass by

Who'll be the last to die for a mistake,
The last to die for a mistake,
Whose blood will spill, whose heart will break?
Who'll be the last to die?

Who'll be the last to die for a mistake
The last to die for a mistake
Darlin' will tyrants and kings
Fall to the same fate,
Strung up at your city gates
Who'll be the last to die for a mistake?

I guessed Springstein cause of the way the lyrics sound and one look through Google says this is Last to Die.

Is there any chance of a song we might all possibly know? I like Springstein, but not that many people are going to guess a random song, especially when it isn't famous (ie not Born In The USA). For instance, do you honestly now this the lyrics to The Fish by Yes or Brother by Focus?

I want to listen to Focus. And you can do perfectly random songs. You worked out what it was through Google. And besides, his famous ones suck. I hate them. I didn't expect anyone to know Botany Bay other than Loz.
