Con, your subject on Botany Bay poses the question "Which song is this?". It should pose the question "Which Botany Bay Song is this FUCKING THING! To start with, there is this one: http://folkstream.com/010.html Then there is your one. Then there is the one in my book which is titled Botany Bay/Moreton Bay. I'm sure there is more. I would post this in the old topic, but something this weird needs a thread on it's own! Anyone think of any other songs that share a name? |

Actually, there are a fair few songs that are by different people but are exactly the same. Now I don't know the story of Botany Bay and emi/immigrants, but I'm sure it relates to both Australians and the Irish...otherwise this Irish guy wouldn't be singing it. Haven't heard the original, but since you seemed to recognise the lyrics, I'm guessing it's the same. And I just heard the one you linked. This version is much, much faster. And the lyrics are different. |

Complaining? I merely said they were the same title.... I just found it weird that every link I clicked had a different version of it on. If I was influenced by Helena it would have gone: "They're all diffent links! It's not fair! The computers rubbish even though it's one I borrowed without your permission! You must have set it like this cause you don't trust me wah-wah-wah! Why don't you understand? Right, I'll hit you! Ow I hurt my hand! It's your fault! Your dumped! Please don't go!" Etc. |
