Celebration 5 in 2010

Posted by jeepgirl (Member) at Jul 25 2009, 09:26 PM. 6 comments

So, with Hasbro slipping up and saying that the winner of a diorama contest woould be displayed at Celebration V in 2010... then changing it to the next Celebration...

Sansweet, in all his giving of information, did in fact admit, I mean confirm that Celebration V will take place in 2010. But, no date and no location... Serioulsy... don't they understand that we need to plan... save? Start donating plasma? Ok. Maybe not that last one...

But, if you're not going to announce it at Comic Con thern where the heck do you announce it?

I say we jump him at Dragon Con and get the info any way we can...

Oh well.. at least it's news

Random Star Wars Stuff

There have been a few random threads around of SW coolness. I thought I would just start a thread here of really neat things that we've run into online that may not deserve their own thread.

First up, a cool concept! Its a Historical record of the Sith Empire starting at about 4000 BBY.

Go here to see it: http://www.swtor.com/info/timeline/timeline1

I hope you liked it as much as I did! :)

Star Wars: Purge

I ran across this trailer the other day. I thought it was pretty neat and that I would share it. Some of you may be following the comic, and even if you are not, this is a pretty awesome concept. Enjoy! :)

FYI, this is only a preview of a longer video that will be out sometime later. I'll let you know if I see it.

Star Wars: The Comic Book

I thought I would start a thread about some of the awesomeness that is the Star Wars comics. Post that kind of thing around here.

Heres one I Just found. There is a new Star Wars game on the Horizon "The Old Republic" which takes place a few thousand years before the movies. (About three hundred years after the Knights of the Old Republic gaming franchise.)

Its still a ways off, but today they released a new webcomic that will help set the stage. It is done by Dark Horse, Lucas Arts, and Bioware. (So it should be pretty good.) Right now there are only a few pages, but they will release more and more until the game comes out.

Here is a link: http://www.swtor.com/media/webcomic/

About the setting:
Quote:

War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire has gripped the galaxy for decades but the sacking of Coruscant and a subsequent peace treaty are changing everything. As the Republic scrambles to re-establish order, the Sith Empire moves quickly to consolidate power within its new dominion. Behind closed doors, however, individual Sith Lords engage in a quiet but deadly power struggle, and discord breaks out among the Jedi as they wrestle with the moral implications of the new galactic balance. During these chaotic days, the stories of several critical characters interweave as they pursue their passions, stand up for their convictions, and ultimately lead the galaxy back to the brink of a catastrophic conflict.

And about Act One:
Quote:

The Sith Empire has scored a series of solid military victories over the Republic, winning control of several critical star systems and seriously damaging the Republic’s logistical supply lines. Overwhelmed but stoic, the Jedi and the Republic Military have succeeded in defending the core worlds and have slowed the Empire’s steady advances. In a surprising turn of events, the Empire has now extended an offer of peace to the Galactic Senate. Wary but desperate, the Republic has agreed to engage in ceasefire talks. A large delegation of prominent Senate and the best and brightest of the Jedi are traveling to the planet Alderaan, where they expect to hunker down for lengthy negotiations on the terms of a treaty with a representative from the Sith Dark Council.

Lightsaber Forms and You

Don't lie. I know you've thought about it. Its only natural when writing a cool dueling scene that you learn a bit about the forms. Would you be a master of Niman? Useful in every situation, no real strengths or weaknesses... Or would you master more then one form?

Let us know! :sw:

You can share your reactions, thoughts, feelings, etc. on the book with fellow Jello Knights. Since I'm having trouble posting pictures, in lieu of a pic of the cover, I will provide a brief visual summary of the plot:

Anakin loses his hand :voodoo; Obi-Wan is sad for him and comfort ensues  ; Padme is mad that Obi-Wan doesn't want Anakin havin' the Jedi/Senator sex :pullhair ; Palpatine and Dooku are not nice men :mwhaha ; Bail is an actual character with a personality to boot :wtg , Ahsoka is a character but maybe not so much the personality part :screwy ; Anakin thinks Obi-Wan is lonely :broken; Padme and Anakin continue with the sex thing :puke ; Obi-Wan gets blown up :dead: , Obi-Wan and Bail talk---a lot :blah :blah :blah , Obi-Wan goes insane and Bail tells him to snap out of it :slap , Obi-Wan is caught between the light and the pull of the dark :seesaw .......and some other stuff involving Anakin :francis and Palpatine :nails and various other characters and at the end the universe is still doomed. The End. :smoke

DISCUSS!

A Long Time Ago

Posted by Perky McSkittles (Party Boy) at Dec 11 2008, 10:46 AM. 2 comments

I was sitting around thinking back to my rather embarrassing (I was young) story of getting into Star Wars and wondered how others entered George Lucas' thrall. What's your story? Is it as bad as mine? (Feel free to mock me a bit, but please remember I was really young... :P )

Well way back in 1997 when the Star Wars Special Edition movies came out on the big screen, I was 12 and saw them for the first time all at once. I think I'd seen the movies a bit before that but never all together like they were. After I saw them, I think I was in a book store, the young adult section, of course (I was a young adult after all,) and I saw a book that looked pretty awesome. I'm sure most of you have heard of it, and maybe even some of you have read it. The book was Heirs to the Force by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta. After that, I read the whole series that was out at the time and I loved them. (Remember, I was 12....) I liked them so much I was going to reread them 'cause I thought they were the only Star Wars books out there, but thanks to my farther who mentioned to me that there were other Star Wars books for adults I was saved from that fate. I think I picked up Heir to the Empire (Not because it sounded anything Heirs to the Force...) And then I was (And Still am hooked.)

How did all of you, my fellow Star Wars fans, become the addict with that unquenchable thirst that you are today? Were you waiting in line in '77? Were you in love with the Ewoks from the trailers? Or do you really hate Star Wars and just pretend you love it to fit in? ( :P ) Well Whatever your story, lets hear it here! :)

My own StarWars-Site

Posted by () at Oct 28 2007, 02:40 PM. 0 comments

After seeing some great StarWars-Sites disappear I came to realise
how soon things can get lost on the internet.
So, I'm considering to start my own "Star Wars"-website (Episodes 1-6
maybe EU, too) for which I collect interviews, articles and pictures
dealing with the GFFA .
I hope that my site will inspire other fans...to write fanfics...to discuss all matters related...to create artworks...

Unfortunately, articles and interviews from
the 70s-80s or about the OT are really hard to find. So, I was wondering
if you have any that you would share with me?
Or do you know someone that might be ready, willing and able to help me?
Please let me know...

Have you lost your faith?

Posted by Jaira (Manager) at Oct 12 2007, 11:54 PM. 76 comments

In the past month, I have had 5 fanfic writers tell me that they are not going to write Star Wars any longer, that in fact they are not even interested in SW at all anymore. This shocked me to my very core. :drama Is it even possible?! Say it isn't so!

In all seriousness, how many of us have lost the Star Wars faith? Is it because there is no new movie to look forward to? I guess we are in a franchise lurch, unless you count action figures. I also wondered if this 'crisis of faith' is maybe hitting fanfic authors harder than us simple folk (i.e. readers) simply because they immersed themselves completely in the fandom and burned themselves out. Or maybe they had never written any fanfic before, and by writing SWfic they discovered they could write and it encouraged them to explore new genres?

I'm interested in everyone's thoughts....
