I seldom use salt in my cooking or baking. Instead I'll use lemon juice if it needs a little sour kick. I found that in cooking forgetting salt isn't that noticable. Oh, in the US there's a salt substitute that's all herbs. No MSG or anything else like that either. You might want to try that. |

I used to add SO much salt. Now I really never add it. If someone wants- they can usually add it in themselves. I always make sure a salt shaker is available. Also I usually cook with spice so there isn't a bland taste to notice it missing! |

Since the Israelis eat tonns of salt I cannot really give good advice but I once heard that you can add soya-sauce instead of salt and sometimes I do that. You would just have to find out, if it contains salt. |

if you mean soy sauce, that has loads of sodium!! thanks for all the tips. i made chicken and also roasted potatoes- without salt but with many other spices. still potatoes need salt i think! i didn't get around to buying a salt substitute, but i used other 'salt-free' spice blends, etc. and orange juice..it was the thought that counted anyway, for a man on our block who is not frum but had a medical condition so we (about 6 people from the block) are doing dinner for him this week. |
