ah. I have 15 boxes of pasta in my cabinets (on sale!!), 12 bags of rice pasta (for Tev), countless loaves of frozen bread (buy it when its on sale and freeze it!), cereal bars galore, fruit bars (rolled in oats) galore, and a ton of other stuff! Crackers, etc...

um, that gets eatten quickly in this house. I will need more in about 2 weeks. The kids love noodles and something for lunch. I send noodle salads with dh to work. Bread- he has a couple sandwhiches a day! I go through a loaf between dh and zu in half a week! Crackers- I snack on with humus or cream cheese. Helps control my blood sugar. I go through 2-3 boxes of cereal bars/ fruit bars a day! My kids love them and its one of the few things I can buy that premade for Tev! Dh also grabs for his way to work. Much easier that way and saves time!

waiting for the annual food drive shortly before purim. that's when i deaccession the bought-on-sale lokshen, oatmeal, etc.

I gotta get dh to buy less challah for shabbos. we always have a ton left over, and there's just so much challah kugel and french toast we can handle.

Some time after Purim I'll cut my challah order down as well. Right now we usually have one large and four rolls for Shabbat. Cutting down on purchasing pasta and other chometz items just after Tu b'Shevat sounds like a good idea.

I won't really do anything special, cleaning wise that is, until the end of February.

I checked rice, noodle, flour stocks and I am quite good. Only one package of noodles left, maybe 1 kg of rice, a bit of soja that I don't like and 1 pack of crackers. but still, I brieved dh, not to buy tonns any more and especially not to buy tonns of sweets for Purim! ... seconds later... I checked ... 3 packs of noodles :doh! 2kg flour, 3 tins sweet corn...
I will update you how I managed to eat - I should check out of the diet-forum. :help

i try to use up or give away as much as is practical because storage is the issue. when you are packing everything in the kitchen into boxes to be hauled over to a bedroom closet, the less you have to pack, the better. I am giving away stuff because we need the space. (what the heck, it's tzedaka anyway, if not precisely lishma.) besides, the less you have around, the easier it is to clean.

I tend to stock up when things are on sale, so i have to start thinking about this right around now. It's a plot: just before pesach all this great non-pesach stuff goes on sale, and after pesach...nothing. I hate buying stuff when it's not on sale! :mad
