my friend was telling me how she was shopping today and bought 2 containers of corn flakes crumbs. meanwhile, this lady looks into her cart and loudly says to her son "we shouldn't buy corn flake crumbs b/c it is too close to pesach!" what is it her business? first of all my friend goes thru it very quickly, 2nd some ppl sell chometz and 3rd she could be making sheva brachos for all anyone knows! i've had this happen to me so many times! my ds had his upsherin a week after purim and i had all these comments about what i'd do with the food! (btw, my brother took tons to yeshiva and i took to the HS i taught in so there was no problem!) i've had funny looks when 3 weeks b4 pesach my kids were eating pretzels in their stroller. is it anyone's business if i clean my stroller 4 days b4 pesach? are people worried that you don't know that you can't have chometz on pesach??? |

AMEN!!!!!!!!! I baked cookies- tev safe ones and was SO excited the other day! Someone told me I was nuts cause I was excited about cookie crumbs. Why didn't I wait till after pesach. Well lets see, this is a huge deal- a cookie TEV can eat!!! For the look on his face of pure enjoyment and excitement when he has the cookies in his hand. I am happy to make him them until the last minute. |

In some ways I could be the woman whose being mentioned here. In fact though, DH and I have a bit of fun with Pesah. Any time that word comes up in conversation we look at each other and prepare a nice...scream. Even so, I do get real involved in cleaning for Pesah. Some of the reasons I may make a comment about chometz foods and such is because we tend to be very informal in our eating habbits. We don't always eat at the table like I would prefer and we often spill things on the floor. Add to that that both of us are collectors of 'junk' and you can see why I'm sensative about bringing chometz foods into the home even 2 months ahead is frightening to me. Still, loudly anouncing that I won't bring in cornflakes this close to Pesah just because I saw it in someone else's cart is rediculous to me. Even if DH were beside me at the time. |

I'd add "and 4th of all Corn Flakes aren't chometz!" They are kitniyos and don't even have to be sold. Well, I guess it depends on the brand - some might have something that is chometz, but why would you assume that they are? |

Yeah, it's true that most cornflakes and c. crumbs are NOT kosher L'pesach. They contain many ingredients and need to have a special hechsher. And they are processed in a chometzdike plant. But this is way off topic, since I also agree that the woman overstepped her boundaries. |

just following in the off topic : i have a friend who married a sefardi guy, and one year they split up pesach. her parents don't eat gebrochts or anything processed, so when they're their it's nothing but potatoes. then they go to her inlaws, and they give her baby bamba and cakes and all sorts of kitniyos :ha . |
