My son has a nasty nappy rash AGAIN, it was bleeding this morning. Last time the dr. prescribed steriods for it. I would like to avoid them if possible. What can I do to help it heal? |

Do you know what is causing it? I have a friend who swears by 'Mylanta' liquid painted on the tush if the baby has a diaper rash from acidic stools (like with diarhea). Also in the US you can get something called 'Triple Paste' that works quite well. But if the baby has yeast (it will look pimply around the edges and be quite red) you'll have to get a anti-fungal. I've never heard of using steriods. |

here's something that is worth a try! an egg white!!!! smear it on his tush at every diaper change - it really works! sometimes though it if you wait too long to treat a diaper rash and it gets really bad then the only thing that works is cortisone creams but definitely try this. |

I have to second this. Saul had the same thing- would look like little round open sores that bled sometimes. Triple Paste corrects it over night!! we know use it during most diaper changes. If you are looking for it- some carry it behind the pharmacy since its made by a pharmacutical (sp) company. Its non-prescription though. good luck |

Triple paste saved Zu's tush. He had rotovirus last year and I was using it non-stop from the onset to be careful. When we got to the hospital with him they were in shock his tush looked so good. Than they realized why! We just ask our CVS guy for some and they have it in back. Its made only like 30 mins away from here- super nice people. I have called once or twice cause we were having problems with all the diaper creams we could find eatting through Zu's pampers. |

let him go naked as much as possible. Also, did you change diaper or wipes brand? SOme of them have chemicals babies react to. DD reacts to wipes w/ a rash. We use spray bottle w/ water & papertowels on her. |

Hallie had a bad rash and it ended up being a yeast rash. We had to put Lotrimin on her tush until it went away. Aquafor/vasaline/desitine 40% work as well. Barbie |

Not got much to add - allowing as much time as possible w/o a diaper on, use a good barrier cream and consider antifungals if it looks like it might be thrush infection |

I used water and cotton-wool instead of wipes and a barrier cream. Ora-cream is very good, it is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, my dr recommended it. Btw, if it is very bad i would take him to the dr for something stronger. |

If my child has bad nappy rash i would go to Dr. But if you generally leave the nappy off for a reasonable amount of time and change the nappy as quickly as possible, talc helps to dry the tushy nicely after a bath. Also if your child is teething it could be to do with that, but if it is real bad go to the Dr. I don't remember finding a nappy rash cream i loved, i ended up having to use Timodine which the Dr prescribed because it got really bad. |
