Thats the question of the week here. Last year I didn't need to cause my counters were BRAND new. We moved into the house less than two weeks before pesach and didn't bring in chumatz so we could use them.

Now I would love to get glass cut to the right size cause we plan on staying here for a VERY long time. Dh is a bit aprehensive cause its more expensive.

What do you do?

We have those pieces of corrugated plastic cut to fit out counters, and we cover them with extra heavy duty aluminum foil. The funny thing is that according to Rabbi Blumenkrantz's book, our counters might be kasherable(and usable) as they are. But we didn't put them in, so we don't know exactly what they're made of.

I don't think the plastic is very expensive. I'll ask dh when he comes home. The biggest problem is probably fitting them into your car.

Tell me about it. BH we have to upgrade from our minivan to either KAH 8-seater or more. Eventually.

same here!

for the tables we got lenolium at home depot - it's thik and hard, so I don't have to worry about more then one cover, as it is pretty hard to cut through.

FedEx or UPS shipping boxes, when you unfold them, fit our counters almost exactly, depth-wise. I trim them down for width. Tape those down, then cover with plastic drop cloths (from Home Depot) - the kind you use for painting, heavier plastic than the tablecloth plastics.

It's very cheap (the boxes are free) so it's just the cost of drop cloths and tape.

I would LUV to get the hard-plastic (acrylic) covers custom-made to my counters, but that's totally not in the budget this year.

we tried the seats in our car- no way they would fit. We even called the car seat specialists and asked about it and they said with the seats we own there is no way. I don't know how you did it honestly.

the corrogated plastic- how do you keep it down?
