FG, because they would have to reboil the water for each item. And the kettle is so big that cooling off can take 1 hour and boiling 1/2 hour or more. |

I Can, it still counts! Karapooz, one doesn't need to take the previous item out before kashering another one if there is enough space. Just wait for the water to boil again. I'd rather take more time kashering vs any degree burns. mho. |

That would work if you are kashering just one item. These guys were kashering lots of items one after the other. The guy whose gloves disintegrated was running the community kashering pot (they boil up a huge cauldron and hordes of ppl bring in their stuff to be kashered). |

Oh, sure. The Hatzalah boys (G-d bless them) grabbed him and raced off to the ER and someone else took over the kashering. He, poor soul, spent all of Pesach and a few weeks after that in the hospital. (B"H he recovered 100% but it was a gruesome scene for a while.) |

this is one of those laugh about later stories. (many years ago) on erev pesach, my mother gets a call from one of her friends. this women had put together a really cute shalach manos- a pesach theme! she had matza in there, and maybe wine and kosher l'pesach candies. anyway, the women calls and says that she just found out that the matza that she put in the shalach manos was NOT kosher l'pesach! (i actually had trouble finding kosher l'pesach matza a month or so ago) so this woman was calling everyone that she had given the matza to. i think my mother had already used the matza to cook/bake something or other. so they had to call their rav who said that b'deived it was fine to use. |

i guess the non-kosher l'pesach matza ISN'T chometzdik. i have no clue why it's NOT kosher l'pesach. |

presumably b/c it hasn't been watched from the time it was ground into flour, and because they wouldn't necessarily be strict about the 18 minutes prep time and the scouring of the surfaces between batches, so the stuff could have become chometz --but probably didn't-- without anyone realizing it. Lechatchilah it's assumed chometzdik unless proven pesachdik, but I guess bedieved, at least in this case... |

I think she ment Mazta Ashira - literlly - rich matza. It's matza made with other ingredients, not only water or even without water. The problem of Matza Ashira is that nobody knows how long it takes for other things to start fermenting. Only water we know 100% that it's 18 minutes. One is allowed to use matza ashira in specific sircomstances, pending approval of your LOR (sick, elderly, young children, etc) |
