http://tzivoshashem.org/ the children's safer Torah is a safer Torah being written for kids. All the letters are bought by children. Maybe someone else can explain it better cause my head is spinning right now and I can't think straight. I just went to sign frei up and to get her letter and thought of all of you! |

The idea is to unite all Jewish children through the Torah. It says that Israel stands for Yesh Shishim Ribo otiot l'Torah - that their 600,000 letters in the Torah corresponding to the 600,000 root souls of israel that left Mitzrayim. Today w/computers (and they also knew before) we know that there are not 600,000 blackletters and some of the white spaces are also letters. Symbolicly and actually it is the Torah that unites all Jews. You get a nice certificate w/the parsha the child's letter is in. The actual letter isn't given so that no child feels bad that their letter is mem in metzora or some other less than pleasant place. The Rebbe asked that this be done to promote unity and create more zechus for Am Yisrael. |

as not everybody is aware who that is, I'll just explain: Lubavitcher Rebbe Sefer Torah - lit. the book of Torah. Generally, a Torah written on a parchment scroll by a scribe is reffered to this way. Also, even now, each Jew has a letter and a pasuk (verse) corresponding directly to him/her. There are great ppl who can find them, not somwthing an average person can do. I wonder, though - the Lubavitch has slight differences in their Torah from the mainstream ksav (like 2 different letters, may be something else). That would be an interesting shaila. |
