we had 2 trays for our highchair, It worked for us and made hubby happy! when we got rid of the High chair we baught a booster seat with a double tray, now my baby is big enough to eat at a regular table, and we no longer bother with the trays at all!

Honestly,I know some people who put the food directly on the tray, (which I think is gross, and causes more kashrus issues!) I always give my kids plates, Most of the food stays there, espeacially when they are little!!

my kids would dump plates and/or placemats right off of the tray :ouch
our high chair came with 2 trays (one snaps on top of the other). we try to keep the top for milchig and bottom for fleish. when the top tray isn't needed, we slide it in between the highchair and the wall that it's up against. i can't say that we're so makpid on it, but that's also cuz we never put anything hot on the trays. :yum

fg- everyone is different and what works for one might not work for another. For us it worked nicely. I had no issues doing it and it did not feel like an inconvience.

exactly what I said.

I think.

thinking back, now that I cooled off after my initial reaction, may be I wouldn't be as ... unhappy... about the 2nd tray if I had where to keep it.

In any case, having another something to wash isn't something I'm looking for.

At the time I was told about it I though it was from the realm of the Halacha, as apposed to a Chumra.

Don't think I would have bought a 2nd tray if I knew it and even had enough room for it.

3 trays here, too (meat, milk, pesach) and I´m much happier that way. We never had one for pesach, but since we cover anything that was used during the year(ie not exclusively for pesach), it was a pain to cover the tray. much better this way.

I thought we should get two trays as well, but for my highchair there was nowhere to get another tray for it, unless you buy a whole new highchair. Plus i never put things directly on the tray, always had plates.
Truth of the matter is, it is parev. The food you put on the plate for your toddler is nowhere near hot enough for it to make anything milky or meaty.
So really no problem.
I still use a booster now, but i don't use the table bit for it anymore as i just put it near the table as he needs it mainly for height now. For pesach i just put the booster away and don't bother with it. But we got it before pesach the first time we used it and so it was all pesachdik anyway.
