Gedalya will soon need to be transfered out of the basinet. Zusha is not ready to give up his crib yet. I am DEFINATELY not ready to have him roaming the house at night! lol
We are all camping out in one room now, all 4 of us. Can't transfer any kid to Dining room, since that's where we spend the evenings, and the kids wouldn't be able to sleep. So I'm in the market for a portacrib (and a new apartment!). (The bedroom will resemble the game "rush hour" in case anyone knows it. ;) )

I can't find it online, tho, for some reason. We have some here in the neighborhood stores for 90-100 $.

What are good prices?
And until what age is it OK to use? :help :dontknow

I would definitely go for a pack 'n play. They are so much better hten portacribs. fold up much more compactly. If you're nervous about the mattress, you can get a portacrib mattress and stick it in the pack 'n play.

When we lived in a 1 bedroom apartment with 2 kids (for about a year), I would put the kids to sleep in my room, and move them out when dh and I went to sleep. Ru used to sleep in a pack 'n play in the middle of my living room that we opened up every night. After Simcha was born, we got a crib for Ru which we put into the corner of the living room. We would just move him out every night. BH, it worked very well for us. Just some ideas. You don't all HAVE to squish into one room.

Moving out every night?! No thanks. How did you do it? What's the point, anyhow, to move them? Once you had enough room to stick them in the bedroom, why waste energy rearranging furniture?

The problem with a playpen (we have one in dining room for baby so Zusha can't get him) is that it's almost as big as a crib. So if we had space, I'd MUCH rather get a crib for Gedalya. Plus a portacrib mattress won't go in a playpen. It will be like an island in there.

I think I didn't make myself clear- I need something space-saving when it's in use, not in storage.

yeah, I saw, thanks. The delivery is a bit high, and prices similar to local, so I might buy here.

But does anyone know till what age it's good for?

How did you search, BTW?
"portacrib" didn't give any results...

I'm not talking about a playpen. I'm talking about a pack n play. A portacrib is the same size as a pack n play. It might be worth it to get rid of the play pen and replace it entirely with just a pack 'n play: http://www.babyage.com/products/18925la_ko...n-1_playard.htm
It takes up the same amoutn of space.

I don't know, after my kids hit a certain age, I don't really want them in my room anymore. Ru would go to sleep on my bed, and we'd move him to a crib at night. It was so easy, and never was a problem for us. He never woke up from it.

karapooz, the cosco crip , which was zun's third link, is fantastic. My mom had one and loved it. my MIL has one for when we visit, and my 2 year old slept in it only 3 weeks ago. It can last a while, and if you want to fold it up, it comes apart in about 3 seconds, and puts together after about that fast. You will have to buy a portocrib mattress for it though. The mattress that comes with it is worthless. I would buy it locally instead of having it shipped many stores deliver so it won't be too bad.

I think some said 40lbs and others said 3 years.

I actually just knew who sold them :) A friend reg. for one with burlington and I remembered seeing it on her list when I made her reg. Babycenter I knew cause I bough Freida her bedding the other day and I saw tons of bedding for portacribs.

Gayil- it's the same thing. :) A pack n play is a PC term for playpen. (Meaning kids aren't animals to be 'penned' in.)

It's really too big for our room.

This link is a mini playpen, size of bassinet. Smaller than a portacrib, and I don't really like to keep a baby so close to the ground. Drafts and stuff, you know?

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?...000000001353000

So a regular portacrib is in the future for us.

And re: transferring kids: I guess since they went to sleep in your bed, it makes sense. I thought you had a crib or someting in your room too! So then it's not too practical.
I'll keep it in mind for the future, but for now Zush is not gonna go for it!

Zun: thanx for the age limits!

thank you everyone for your help!
