I don't know what to do. Simcha just figured out how to climb out of his crib to the floor! I tried putting him back in 10 times today for a nap and he just screamed and climbed right out! I need ideas, fast!! We're skipping naptime today.

What about if you stay in the room with him?
Or climb in the cot with him?
Or put him to sleep on the floor?

Good luck...

i've seen ppl. who have these nets on top. it's not as bad as it sounds - it's like a mesh dome over the crib.

He should be put in a youth bed with a rail because a kid that climb out is not safe. He can fall if he tries it in the dark at night.

How old is he?

When ds started climbing out, we left the railing down. It still protected him from rolling out and he didn't hurt himself climbing out.

We also did that with Zu. He still wanted to sleep in the crib so we left the side down and a chair next to it so he could climb onto the chair and than down from there.

We didn't have room to put a chair, but it was ok b/c ds had enough places to hold onto.

my neighbour just got a tent for the top.

w/ my 2nd, i took off the side of the crib - it converts into a toddler bed. ds1 never climbed out of the crib!

Well, today, he tried it again during nap time. This time, I put him back in and stayed in the room with him. He tried it about 15 more times. each tiem, I got up before he got out of the crib and laid him back down, saying "I'm sorry SImcha, it's nap time now, Imma loves you", in the same exact tone, same exact voice each time. After the 15ht or sotime, he laid down, and cried for about 10-15 minutes, first "IMMMMMAAAA, MOMMMMYY", then "I want out, I wnat out", again and again and again. Finally, he was quiet. I stayed another few minutes. THinking he was sleeping I started to walk out, but he was awake. He got up 2 more times, and I put him back down. I stayed in the room another 10 minutes, first he was crying "IMMMa, Imma....." again for about 5 minutes this time. Then, he finaly went to sleep! 40 minutes to get him down!!! Hopefully, next time it will be less.

Zusha knows how, but doesn't do it for some reason. B"H B"H B"H!
Make sure that if he climbs out when you're not around that he can't hurt himself:
either soft landing or footrests on the way down.

On Shabbos, we put him in for a nap, he climbed out about 10 times, before laying down adn screaming about 10 minutes or so before falling asleep. Yesterday, he climbed out one time. Today, he climbed out no times! Guess we'll see what happens tomorrow, beH, bah.
