My mother picks my kids up from the babysitter and watches them until I pick them up after work. She called me today and said how my dd did something wrong at daycare today. I could tell my mother was upset and let my dd know that. Here's what happened: My dd went to play outside, like they do everyday. At some point, she took of her shoes (of course today i sent her in a nice, newish pair of sandals), probably to go on the trampoline. She left her shoes outside. Well, before my mother went to pick them up it POURED here. So dd's shoes were outside and drenched. My mother had to carry her to/from the car. I understand that my mother was upset. But is it my dd's fault? Shouldn't the babysitter have made sure that she had her shoes on. The only thing i can think of is that the babysitter told her to bring them in and she didn't listen (she's not always the best listener). But I can't believe that my dd purposely left her shoes outside. She probably just forgot. It seems like my mother has given her quite a hard time for it. What should I do? |

it sounds like it is the babysitter's fault. your dd is 2 - so if she doesn't listen, it's NORMAL! anyways, your dd couldn't care less if she needs new sandals b/c of it, so the babysitter is punishing you, not your dd so she isn't learning from it. if you are OK w/ your mother's discipling overall, i'd leave it. |

I don't think these things are fault. It was not intended on anybody's part. Yelling is just letting out frustration. |

First of all, the babysitter should've taken in the shoes, and let your daughter walk barefoot if she so wished. Second of all, your mother could've put the wet sandals on her. Nothing would've happened if she took off her sandals and socks at home. I don't see the big deal. Just ignore it, show your mother it's not a big deal. Or talk to her calmly and say your feelings. |

i dont' think it's such a big deal. for sure, your daughter is not to blame, she is 2! btw, re 2 yr old + sandals - my ds threw one of his new sandals (wore them twice!) somewhere in the garden. we have been looking for it for 2 weeks already, but can't find it anywhere..... does it help to get angry? no, of course not. we didn't see him throw it (obviously, otherwise we'd know where to look for it! B) ), and he already forgot.... no one to blame, just one of these things 2 yr olds entertain us with :) |

When I bought dd her first shoes, pretty pink tennies w/strawberries that cost a bomb, she threw one out the bus window on the way home. First shoes should be cheap. |

That is very funny Rikal!! :ha My almost 4 year old puts his thing in "safe" places, and then prompltly forgets where they are! Shoes are misplaced most often! The shoes will dry. Your daughter is a normal 2 year old, and lets face it, the babysitter forgot the shoes, Im sure there is alot for her to do also! I don't think a two year old realizes the consequence of thier actions, and I don't think that blaming her is going to help anyone! |

You can't blame a 2 year old for not bringing their shoes inside. The sandals can be dried (unless they are completely ruined). |
