I thought this was pretty routine, but then found out that it isn't. Not sure about later in the year, but for now we did a 10 day (in the state YT was born, not with our regular ped), 1 month (with the regular ped, but don't think that's on his regular schedule - this was just so we could have an initial visit). He does a 2 month and then skips to 4 month. Beyond that, I'm not sure. What about you? |

we do one week (or in Frei's case 2 weeks), 2 month, 4 month, 6 month, 9 month, 12 month, 15 month, 18 month, 2 yrs, 3 yrs, etc... I know the shots at 2 months they can't get until after 6 weeks Our insurance won't pay for the shots at the other ones till they are that age (4,6,etc... months) and one day. |

Interesting... Here in the UK all that the paeds do are routine checks at birth (ie before D/C from hospital) 6 weeks and 18 months, although obviously you can get seen anytime if you are worried for any reason... |

Shots are done in the GP surgery or in community well baby clinics by the nurse, like Its me said. There are paediatricians at many of these clinics, although it does depend on the setup of the area you live in, but they won't see the child routinely apart from 6 weeks and 18 months. If there are any concerns, they will see the baby. I don't know about the US, but here in the UK there are 'health visitors' who although they aren't medical often have a nursing background. They are also very involved in providing care for the child over the first few years and will let the paed know if there are problems. |

Our first visit was when the baby was a few weeks old. Can't remember the exact age. I might have done a 6 wk visit, but can't remember. Then the 2, 4, 6, 12 months for the shots, and then the yearly visits. But we spent much more time in the docs office due to ear infections, bronchitis, strep, etc. If you do see a pediatricin, they will tell you when you should bring in your child. Also, many hospitals give you a pamphlet with what to expect and when they need their shots. |
