About a week ago Hallie asked my mom why she's a vegetarian. Satisfied with her answer, she then announces that she too, would like to be a vegetarian. She even said that she's willing to give up ice cream!! I explained that that wouldn't be necessary and that daddy and I will help her along her journey. We made a special trip to Trader Joes, got her "chicken" nuggets and her soy milk that she loves from grandma's house. Today, for lunch she had the nuggets and was so excited when she realized she could have milk with them! Then, she decided she wanted soy milk instead of regular milk but she understood that she had a choice. I'm really very proud of her for making such a decision. It's tough on a kid to commit, and of course we won't make her, it's all her choice. Her friend at school (also 4) decided to grow her hair out for Locks of love. I think it's incredible for a child to do such a self-less thing. Kids are truly amazing. |

You never know. I told my parents at 5 I wanted to keep kosher. By 7th grade I refused pork products, shell fish Jr. year in HS, mixing milk and meat the end of my senior year. It was something I talked about for a long time- just didn't put it into practice till I was more in charge and really got what I was saying. |

I used to joke that she's a vegetarian when she was a baby, bc she refused meat/chicken at an early age. I support her either way. I just think it's great that she made a decision based on something real, that required adult concepts.. (usually she doesn't want to do something bc of normal 4 year old reasons) |

It's great that you are supportive. It's cute when they show some sort of maturity. |

Zun, I was also like that. And in the end my entire family became kosher - and then slowly, slowly, frum! |
