Is my kid the only one who HATES bandaids?? It's a fight to get him to use one. He has a skin infection (probably staff) and is on oral and topical antibiodics. One spot- a blister that he got from water shoes- is badly infected and needs to be covered- otherwise it will rub his shoes (on the instep of his foot). any ideas on how to get him to wear one without a fight? |

Our paediatrician hates things covered since it just grows infection. Usually a gauge covering with that light tape (like paper in consistency) is best for covering so that the sore can breath without irritation. Can you put something like that on it and then decorate it with some stickers?? |

My kids absoloutely love bandaids and for them, it's like a cure-all. Maybe you can try using Liquid bandaid? It goes on, and then they just leave it? http://band-aid.com/liquid_bandage.shtml |

good idea Gayilc! my dd loves bandaids- you know she'll search through the medicine cabinet to find bandaids for that boo-boo she got last week that can barely be seen anymore. now, ds.... he HATES them. After his shots at the doctor he's crying- not because of the shot- he wants me to take off the band-aid! Last visit I told the nurse to skip the band-aid and i just applied pressure w/ guaze to the immunization point. |

They were an institution when I was growing up. A kiss and bandaid on every booboo. And how we hated taking them off cause they pulled the skin and hair. My mom usually had us soak them off in the tub. I never bought them and forgot they existed, until people asked for them in the store. I think they are mostly an American placebo. Most cuts are cleaned and stop beeding in minutes. If not you put on light gauze for a while. We have them in the store but not in the house. |

That's why I use that paper-tape, because it is latex free. They put it on in the hospitals after blood tests sometimes and can be used on request. I never found latex-free bandaids. |

I find them, and now more than ever ones with pictures on them. My kids would never go for paper tape stuff. Besides the latex free tape is not readily available around here. I have trouble even finding wraps that are latex free here. For my ankle i couldn't find until the ER gave me. |

Good job Mama - bribery is fabulous
B) Asher loves bandaids - takes them out of the box, decorates the wall with them  But for actual cuts - no - neither one of my children will use them for an actual bonafide cut. I am kind of the same opinion as some others on here and really don't use them much as I think it is better for the wound to get sun and heal. |

Simcha will get a cut and then request a bandaid. When I ask him where to put it, he points to some random spot, not necesarily anywhere near where he got the cut. I have to hide the bandaids in my house, or my kids go through them like water when they see them!! I can just imagine what would happen if I bought ones that had pictures on them!! One time, we were out of bandaids and Ru genuinely needed one. I went next door and borrowed a bandaid. It had spiderman all over it. A few nights later he wasn't going to sleep. He told me his foot hurt and I needed to go next door to get him a bandaid. When I came back from there with a plain old bandaid he was sceptical that that was where it had come from!!! |

I let my kids pick out the bandaids that they wanted. That helped. The glow in the dark ones were a big hit. They kept closing all the lights. lol Unless it's a bad cut, I leave it open at night to heal better. During the day, the cut might get dirty. I hope Saul feels better! |

I got a box of 100 bandaids at the dollar store- latex free. These are plain ones, not "fun" ones. They did have fun ones there, but I didn't check to see if they were latex free. |
