How stressful... A week ago, he was hit on the head at camp and has been acting 'weird' since. They did an ultrasound and said he had minor bleeding under but it wasn't a problem and would go away but to check back with the paedeatrician next week. Personally, I go really crazy when things like this happen...my dh says it's 'fine'. Unforturnately, ds has boycotted camp for the rest of the summer. |

things like this happen- its part of being a kid. Zu got a gash in his head a few weeks ago and had to go get a CAT scan. When he got home we got him back up on the "horse." Otherwise things fester and make it harder to go back into something. We watched him over night, they rechecked him and he went on with his life. If he feels tension though from mommy or daddy it will make it harder for him to feel comfortable to try again. Sometimes we have to stand back and keep taking deep breaths cause as hard as it is- this is part of growing up. |

Please, please keep an eye on this over the next few years. My brother had a problem with bleeding in the brain and it could have been bleeding for over 5 years before it finally "did something". I don't want to frighten you at all bc the experiences can be 100% not related at all, but all I can say is please note any and all "differences" you may see. |

I'm sorry Refuah sheleima. I agree with Zun, Its always best to get back on the horse! I had a car accident a few years ago (basically a fender bender) After the police left My husband forced me into the car and told e that I had to finish the errand I was going to before the accident. If he had not made me do it, I doubt I would have gone back into a car to drive for a long time. Instead, I drive and I learned to be more careful. He might be upset to go back to camp, But he is a child and by the end of the day he will be happy to have gone. |

Believe me - we have tried!! Three times so far. The first two times - he went into the classroom and was crying so dh left him - and he pulled the door open - ran out of two sets of doors and out the front door to the car (very dangerous). Third time - I went - and I couldn't even pull him out of the car. He held onto the door and screamed and cried. I couldn't pry his hands off. Believe me - this did not look very good in front of my old boss!! |

Yeah it's so true! especially regarding car accidents. i didn't drive for a week after my fender bender and it was a long time til I got back to normal driving (like only recently). I was forced to do carpools but I was sick before each drive :(. Refuah sheleimah! |

Refuah shleima! I agree with getting back on the "horse". When a bus hit ds#1 and me on the way to his Bar Mitzvah, I had no choice but to get back in the car. I was shaking on the way there but he needed to be there for pictures. |

He had lots of headaches over the weekend and I gave Motrin as directed, and today he went back to camp. I talked with his Morah yesterday and she told me some things that were happening at camp. He was not reacting to my 'worry' - it was something real that was generating his apprehensive behaviour and the Morah and I dealt with it. My statement that, "Personally, I go really crazy when things like this happen" was more of an expression stating that I was not taking his head injury very lightly and wanted it looked into since it was going on for too long. |

I'm glad he is feeling better, And that he is back in camp, and the problem he was having was resolved. I think we were all just trying to be helpful. I know for a fact my fear sometimes rubs off on my kids. I have to play it cool around dogs, because my kids get hysterical, just like I do. I do the same thing for bees....even though there is a legitimate reason to be afraid. so sorry if we hurt your feelings.Posted ImagePosted Image |
