I don't know either. I gave away all my small skirts and shirts, but if you want a jumper I have one that can be yours if you want it. |

Ok. The uniform is grotesque. But, do yourself and the kid a favor. Eitehr just buy the uniform and don't go on about it, or find another school. (Complaining to the school out of the kids' earshot is fine, though.) For one thing, you don't want your son to develop an attitude about the school rules, or rules in general. Perhaps you won't think the second point is very important, but I also think that it will help with the idea that clothes are not all that important, as long as they are neat and clean and consonant with Halacha and Tznius. Not that I think that this is the reason the school chose that uniform, but you might as well get the benefit. |

The boys uniform here is really nice. Blue or tan pants with light blue or white (or yellow?) polo shirts. |

And I don't get EC's light blue shirt with a plaid skirt with navy, black, red, green and white! When I went we were allowed to wear any solid shirt with a collar from the above colours. Here, the girls' schools all have uniforms but the boys' ones don't. |

how much was a knas by you? here it was $5 for untucked shirts, sweaters not part of the uniform (and this lady would chase you down the hall and take away your sweater til the end of the day), unlocked lockers, and being caught eating lunch out of the gross lunchroom. |

My guess is that that scheme was thought up by parents or someone who had a hangup about their uniform being too drab. The uniform dd had in HS was not bad - off white shirt and navy skirt, no pleats B"H - but the girls hated it by heredity. I Tzfat they had this purple color that kids liked but not parents and any black skirt they wanted, even long. Like even the best dorm food, there is a strong social pressure to kvetch about the uniform. BTW, what is wrong with black pants? They match everything. |
