I will start planning in a week or so. I have my menus from the last few years, so I will see what was successful and what I can make different.

Sara, have fun trying all the new things!! Don't forget Tishrei is full of YT meals. :)

I know we're eating out the two day meals.
I'm planning a garlic brisket for the first night.
Salmon/g. fish loaf (anyone know if that can be made ahead and frozen?)
Homemade raisin challah - question is round or crown???
I have apple/peach, carrot, potato, and potato zucchini kugels in my freezer- don't plan on using all of them... will see.
Chocolate lover's truffle brownies- in freezer, just need to make top glaze
salads (possibilities: rainbow, tomango, rice, roasted peppers)- gotta remember if we use vinegar or not on R"H- prob could look through the minhagim thread and see what i posted last year :)
Penne a la vodka- for 2nd night = milchig meal

I've never made a stove-top cholent, but will try that for shabbos lunch... oh how i love 3 day yom tovs!!!

...don't we all :nod

DH and I will most likely go to his parents for at least one or more meal(s). Either we will go to my parents for the other day...or invite them over to our place! That's the advantages of living close by. As for what I may make...no clue in the world.

So far, we're eating out first night and are having company 2nd day (Friday). Not sure yet about the other meals. Definitely want to have more company, and wouldn't mind at least one day meal out (either first day or Shabbos).

Yesterday I made 12 large round challos (7 pull-apart, 5 crown) and 6 small round (slightly larger than a jelly donut). I also made 6 small kugels (*) - 3 broccoli, 2 cauliflower, and 1 spinach.
I need to get my meat/chicken and figure out what else we're having.

--
(*) Small foil pans. Weber (the bbq grill company) makes these small aluminum drip pans, meant to sit under the grill to catch dripping grease. But they're the perfect size for mini-kugels. They are slightly narrower than the 8"x8" square pans, and not quite as small as a mini loaf pan or pot-pie round pan. They are a great size for if you want to make several types of kugel and mix-and-match them at different meals.

Here's what I am thinking...

2 nights of YT (Wed and Thurs)
Simanim:
3 layer gefilte fish (and has a zucchini layer so that's probably good for the gourd one?)
purple cabbage salad (for cabbage and has carrots too :D)
other simanim on their own

Made 12 challahs already - will use some for succos - 6 medium-large size and 6 pretty small ones

Chicken soup

Grilled boneless chicken breasts with salad
Pretzel Chicken - not fried
Small roast with potatoes, sweet potatoes

sweet potato pie (in freezer already)
spaghetti squash kugel (i.e. Mock Lukshen Kugel)

Shabbos lunch:
not home

PLUS:
salads - purple cabbage, tomango, lettuce salad, etc

Desserts:
Hot Fudge Pudding Cake
Honey Cookies (kids & I made yesterday - in freezer)
Bought Sorbets

(Edited for the zillionth time to make lower fat foods)

We are eating all meals at home. I'll probably have company, but I haven't figured out who/when yet. My fil will be with us for all meals. The only time I make crockpot cholent is in the summer when I don't leave my stovetop on. I like stovetop cholent better.

Can't imagine anyone has started cooking yet here..
We'vejust returned from camp last week and cooking for Shabbos & having company & cleaning was totoally exhausting....
Its been so hot here the past few days, I just keep having to take the kids swimming and shopping for school supplies..

Maybe when everyone is back at school I'll have time to think bout it..
The only thing I was going to do was to make & freeze a potato leek soup...
The chicken puffs do sound interesting though....

Well, DH is going to his parents and DS & I are going to a friend. So whatever I do, it has to be portable! And I'm supposed to work erev RH (1/2 day) but DS doesn't have daycare...

For sure sweet kugel & glazed carrots. My friend will probably take care of the mains, just because it's easier. Maybe also some sweet rice/couscous (with dried fruit). Some sort of cake (I don't like honeycake, but I'll make it if they like it). And apple crumble. I might shlep ingredients and cook in her place instead of bringing it all cooked already, depending on what it is and how it's easier, since we're bussing it (2 busses, with a transfer at the Central Bus Station, complete with the security checks and a stroller).
