Quick question:

I want to start my cooking already. We're having 32 people the first night, and I'm working.

How long can chicken stock stay in the fridge? I wanted to boil up some chicken bones, to supplement the canned stuff I have, but I don't want it to be gross by the time we eat it.

Ditto with gefilte fish. I have the frozen type that you boil for an hour. How long will that last in the fridge? I'd rather not boil it the same day as I have everyone over, because the smell lingers and not everyone likes fish.

Oy vey, my menus sound so lousy...

Well, I could be anywhere from after birth/in the hospital/still preggo, so I decided to take it easy...

First night meal - at my mom's. There'll probably be a ton of simanim and other food!
First lunch - out.
Second night - at home, still trying to digest the previous meals... DH should be making chicken soup tomorrow, and he bought all kinds of fish. I have already frozen stuffed artichoke hearts and peppers which should be enough for more than this one meal... I'm going to make "spaghetti fruit" now as side dish and mnight throw in some rice/couscous for Adin at the last minute (nothing fancy).
Second lunch - out.
Shabat diner - either home or at my mom's, probably having left-overs if we can stuff anything in!
Shabat lunch - completely forgot about it!!! ooops. Gotta go make phone calls.

As far as desserts go, I have made a nice big honey cake, bought some parve "glidonim" (dh loves them) and fruit. We're buying the chalot...as ususal (I have to get my act together, I know).

Now I feel even lousier than before! Well, next year B"H I'll catch up.

chicken stock gets better until the 3-4 day and then it starts to deteriorate.
fish probably make tuesday night.

Kol hakavod to you for having so many guests!

Did someone here post a recipe or just talk about doing a roast turkey breast with diet coke? I KNOW I saw it somewhere. I put it on my menu for Shabbat lunch and now I cannot find the recipe. Did it come from here? Please help. I have this turkey breast and I believe the recipe said something about diet coke and pouring it over. I have no idea how long or anything else. Anyone?

JRK- 32 people! Wow! I give you much credit! I find that chicken soup is good up to a week. Same with gefilte fish. I'm going to be making the fish tomorrow night (Tues) and freezing any leftovers right after Shabbos.

Bubaluba- You have every excuse to take it easy!

I know I have to sit down and make my menu. I just don't have the energy to do it yet. I'll probably work on it some time between Sun-Wed b/c I'm going food shopping on Wed or Thurs night.
